Synopsis
The tenth book in bestselling phenom W.E.B. Griffin's police procedural series (co-written with William E. Butterworth IV), VIGILANTES, explodes with action. Philadelphia homicide detective Matthew Payne has a string of murders on his docket to investigate. It seems that someone is systematically knocking off on-the-lam violent sex-offenders. There are plenty of ambiguous clues left behind--for instance, clean fingerprints that cannot be linked to anyone--and a mysterious vigilante group is claiming responsibility for the assassinations. It seems that these renegade troops are finishing off the business that the police department can't, which makes Payne and the city look very bad. Charged with getting to the bottom of things by the mayor, Payne must solve this mystery before the city erupts into unbridled, lawless violence.

I think Griffin is getting tired-- when you get to 9 books in a series, sometimes things get repetitive. Other than that, this story is pretty good. I read it in one sitting, it does hold your interest. Couldn't give it an excellent, but it's still very good reading.

This is another of WEB Griffin books. I found it to be quite interesting. I have read 39 of his books and always am amazed at how much history can be taken from the books. I would definitely recommend this and all other books by this author.
