Publisher's Note
With his trademark folksy wisdom, Earl Proulx tells you how to recycle those things we all have lying around the house into ingenious solutions without spending money on fancy cleaning solutions, or pricey gadgets. Some of Earl's particular favorites are kitty litter (as a cleaner for oils pills and as a base for a soothing facial mask) and, of course, vinegar (to clean just about anything, unclog showerheads, as well as trap fruit pests), duct tape (as both tick remover and a protection against blisters), and milk jugs (bird feeders and clothespin holders). His fun and inventive ideas also include:

Ant-proof your home with lemon juice
Cover up furniture scratches with a dab of iodine
Use powdered milk to soothe sunburn and remove makeup
Make an earring holder out of window screen
Recycle bubble wrap for a toilet tank insulator

Organized by location inside and outside of the house, this essential compendium will make you pause each time you start to throw something (old blue jeans, ice cube trays, coat hangers, egg cartons) out in the trash.

A home repair and maintenance guide shares a wealth of household solutions that use everyday items, from ant-proofing a home with lemon juice and using iodine to cover up furniture scratches to using powdered milk for sunburn and reusing bubble wrap as a toilet tank insulator. Reprint.

Vinegar, duct tape, milk jugs & more ....

I first saw this book in a small caption in the Sunday "Parade" Magazine. It was listed with another money saving book. So, to be frugal, I went to EBAY and found both books at way below the author's price. I know the author probaly didn't get any money from this sale, but they did from the original sale.

These books, plus another book, I got for under $10.00 on EBAY and now the lowest price is $40.00 up past $100.00. So, EBAY has saved me loads of money on books and other items.

As for this book, I am trying to use natural, and less costly items in my household. Vinegar is one of the greatest cleaners around. Duct tape, "don't leave home without it". We had a small accident with our travel trailer in LA. A tree somehow clipped the FRONT of it"going to TX. We had the old gray duct tape to fix up the tear in the travel trailer's side. The next day I found some white duct take. Except for the "crunched" side you couldn't tell where the damage started. It also lasted for over a month until we could get back home to MS.So duct tape to the rescue.

This book should be a must for all leaving home on their own and most likely for everyone. A life without all these processed chemicals in it; is so much better for your personal health. Go buy a book from EBAY now. Jan.

I bought this book because I just had to see what it was about. I'm happy to say that I am pleased with my purchase, there is so much information on what you can do with so many everyday items that you would normally throw away! I think this is a great book.

My husband and I each got the same book from two people for a holiday last year. We opened one and sold the other. This has a permanent place down in the workbench area of our house! There are soooo many great ideas and fix-it solutions in this book and the ones we have used actually worked! Well worth the money!
