    Album Notes
Contains an untitled hidden track on track #14.Personnel: Vivian Green (vocals); Cheryl Stevens (vocals); Junius Bervine, Steve McKie (various instruments); Dave Manley, Clay Sears, Chuck Treese, Ben O'Neil (guitar); Jeff Bradshaw (trombone); James Poyser (piano, keyboards, programming); Christopher Weatherbe (keyboards); Steve Green (programming). In the three years after Vivian Green released A LOVE STORY, she had a child and fleshed out the neo-soul nuances that made that 2002 debut such a delightful surprise. VIVIAN reflects the Philly native's increased confidence, and exhibits her willingness to incorporate more hip-hop spice into her overall sound. Much as they did on her first record, the trials and tribulations of romance continue to be Green's muse. Chuck Treese's rapid-fire acoustic-guitar riffs spice up the indignation of "Mad," and the sharper beats on the samples lacing "I Like It (But I Don't Need It)" give Green a mix of vulnerability and determination reminiscent of Mary J. Blige.Green's unwillingness to settle for sub-standard treatment also comes across in the lush but melancholy "Gotta Go Gotta Leave (Tired)." Green also finds plenty of positivity in her love life, though. There's a willingness to make her relationship work amid the swaggering beats and scratching of "All About Us," and a fantasy about having a tryst with her significant other within the swirling ambiance of "Sweet Thing."

3 discs out of 5 - [S]he rolls with the punches and takes pleasure in her newfound freedom....It's the sound of a woman who's determined to be happy.

4 stars out of 5 - [S]uperbly engaging, effective nouveau R&B, using pinpoint rhythmic spacings and multi-tracked call-out vocals.

    It's ok.

    Created: 05/08/06
This CD was pretty ok. It didn't wow like I thought it would. The single Gotta Go, Gotta Leave (the reason who I bought the CD) made me think that the CD would blow me away like that song did, but it fell short of my expectations. It wans't horrible but it was missing this something that I just can't put my finger on. I would have done better to just by the single.

    Great Album

Vivian Green is an artist on the come up. Her music is soulful and you can truly relate and feel her emotions as she sings. Very few artists have the ability to do that. I applaud her as an entertainer and vocalist and will continue to support her music.

There are a few really great songs on this CD. If you have her 1st CD you can tell that she was in a different place this time around. It's worth your money.
