Album Notes
Avenged Sevenfold: M. Shadows (vocals); Zacky Vengenance, Synyster Gates (guitar); Johnny Christ (bass); The Roll (drums).Personnel: Synyster Gates (guitar, piano); Zacky Vengeance (guitar); The Reverend (drums).Audio Mixers: Mudrock ; Andrew Murdock.Recording information: Third Stone And Mates.Photographer: Lisa Johnson .Where Avenged Sevenfold's debut, SOUNDING THE SEVENTH TRUMPET, announced their unique metalcore sound, their follow-up, WAKING THE FALLEN, perfects it. The band manages to sound both more melodically accessible-drawing on classic metal and dark, Alice in Chains-like harmonies-and more punishing-wielding a death metal-influenced crunch. The writing and performances are stepped up, too, yielding an album that consistently matches its sonic architecture with memorable vocal melodies and dizzying guitar leads. The title track opener invites the listener in with its ominously atmospheric feel, setting the stage for the pummeling to come on tracks like "Unholy Confessions" and "Reminissions." Frontman M. Shadows alternates between throat-shredding screams and hook-laden melody lines with ease, while the band's dual lead guitar attack offers up no shortage of grinding riffs and solos spilling over with superhuman technique. Add to these a rhythm section capable of splitting skulls, and one is left with an album of undeniable power.

Prime AX7!!!!!

Wow, is all I can say. Big AX7 fan and this is one of my all time favorite CD's from this band. It is dark and so sinful to listen to from beginning to end that you don't care if the neighbors threaten to crucify you for blaring it around midnight while they are trying to sleep.
This is before City of Evil and after Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and it is a mix of both but with Fallen you are not subject to the whining sound of Shadows new signing style or the ragged growl he would produce on Seventh Trumpet. Yes he screams but it is more refined and with the heavy beats and awesome guitar riffs it is a perfect accomodation for any track he decides to unleash his animalistic voice on.
Noteworthy tracks are Chapter Four, Desecrate Through Reverance, and my personal favorite Eternal Rest. True fans relive the glory with this CD, crank your CD Player way up and wreck everything in sight and remember air guitar is okay as long as no one sees you doing it.

Great CD!

This is one of my favorite albums of all time! There is not one bad part of this CD. Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengance are the greatest guitarists in metal right now. I would consider Synyster the greatest of all time, based on some of the amazing solos he has done! And M Shadows voice is just amazing. It fits so well with the rest of the band. I can't leave out how great The Rev is on the drums! And Johnny Christ does a great job as bassist! Waking the Fallen is the perfect album for anyone that just likes great music!

I love this cd. Every song is amazing. My favorites are "Unholy Confessions", "Chapter Four", and "Clairvoyant Disease." Shadows' voice sounds amazing and the lyrics are very powerful.

VERY GOOD A7x

Created: 06/09/06
I have all the A7X Cd,s and have seen them live in New Orleans. This is some of their best work by far. Less Melody than in City of Evil, pushes more than Sounding the Seven Trumpets. Actually sounds in between both CDs. Enough push with the awesome guitar riffs and AMAZING DRUMMING!!!
