A Must for any Henning Mankell Fan !!!!
Created: 16/11/10
No wonder Kenneth Branagh was nominated for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie" with these series and won the "British Academy Television Awards 2010". All of it is amazing. So human, so perfectly played by Branagh.
Wallander’s personal life is not working, because his mind seems to be constantly somewhere else, turning over and over the details of his cases. Branagh is wonderful: (so) human, very lonely, it is so hard for him to communicate emotionally, I could not help myself wishing to help him. I love Kurt Wallander in Henning Mankell books and now on screen. With all he is he always find the good way to solve the case, and understand the "bad ones" so deeply I think sometimes he would rather let them go...... I could write more and more on the serie but I think the best thing would be for you to watch it..... All the 6 episodes, 2 DVD sets.

Subtle, Brooding, but Riveting Wallander Strikes Again!

After having seen Wallander on Masterpiece Mystery on PBS, I decided to seek out some episodes I hadn't seen and I came across this DVD of 3 episodes. I was quite thrilled as I've come to love his neurotic style personality.
The series is rather odd as he is a Swedish detective and the countryside is a big part of the story but all the actors have British accents. And these shows are not for the squimish; all sorts of strange crimes are featured. I enjoyed following the diseparate threads and trying to make connections which makes for a challenging enterprise. I highly recommend Wallander and hope that maybe more episodes are forthcoming. Kenneth Branaugh is a top-notch actor.

This is what television police dramas should be!! The acting is top notch throughout even the child actors are brilliant! This is unlike the usual fair where you pretty much know what needs to be solved and how police go about resolving the crime. In this drama..your mind has to work a bit overtime as you get one clue after another and yet still your mind is puzzled as to where the story is actually going. Anyone into very intelligent story telling and brilliant acting with no room for silly puns or one liner jokes than this is for you! The brits have done a nice job retelling the Swedish crime mystery.

Loved the series! Kenneth Branaugh does such a good job conveying the everyday man working in a world of sinful deeds. The landscape is grogeous and the stories are edge of your seat. Especially loved the first of the series "Sidetracked". Hope that they have more of these on the BBC.
