Good 'Ole Mickey Mouse!

Created: 09/06/06
We bought this DVD for our kids. We had watched the original Mickey Mouse cartoons (from the 20's and 30's) and wanted to see what came next. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto are funny, but maybe not quite as charming as they were in the old black and white cartoons. We enjoyed all the cartoons in this collection. The only thing we didn't like (only a small irritation) was the introductions by film critic Leonard Maltin, who seemed to be (or was paid to be by Disney lawyers) a little too sensitive or politically correct about all the things that used to be acceptable in the forties but aren't any more (African American "Uncle Tom" dialect, Native Americans saying "How," gun use, etc. Just enjoy the 'toons, Leonard, just like the kids :-)

Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color

I love Disney. My favorite characters are Winnie the Pooh, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and I can go on and on. Every Disney short have a good solid story that is strongly missed today with the cartoons that are out there now. I do not have a problem letting my nieces and nephews/students watch a Disney short over SpongeBob anyday. The cartoons are the type of cartoons that adults can watch as well.

Good, But too "P.C."

I like this collection. Though it is alittle too Politically Correct, as another reviewer pointed out. I usually fast-forward thru Leonard Maltin's explanations of what isn't "PC" and skip right to the cartoons.
The main reason I purchased this DVD is because of "Mickey's Christmas Carol." It is the only place I have seen this fantastic movie on DVD. We watch that movie every Christmas!! For me that alone was worth its price, but it has so much more! My daughter enjoys "The Prince and the Pauper" as well.

good stuff!

I used to have many of the Disney Treasures but sold to make some money, so am happy to get some of them back. The Disney Treasures are a great limited line of DVDs that allow many to view animated & live action gems that they may not have seen and to gain historical knowledge about Disney and the history of the characters and films. There is a rumour that the line may not continue which i hope isnt true. I urge all to write Disney to continue the Disney Treasures.
It is important to keep them going, as they do a good job of cleaning up the old animation and film that may otherwise be lost. There have been several releases of the Mickey cartoons and all are enjoyable

Good, but look at the content closely

Created: 14/12/09
From the billing, I thought this was going to be 5 hours of just Disney short cartoons featuring Mickey Mouse. It's not. Has some small feature movies, which is fine...just not what I expected.

The only annoying thing is having to sit through Leonard Maltin explain little things in several of the cartoons that might not be "politically correct." A minor gripe, but still not needed.
