The greatest Family Drama in TV History
Created: 03/12/10
The long-running series "The Waltons" was the high-water mark in Family Drama on Television, realistically depicting the life of a close-knit rural family during the Great Depression. No matter what your religious beliefs or lifestyle are (you need not be white Southern Baptist like the characters) you will find powerful moral lessons and well-written compelling stories about John-Boy, his many siblings, his parents and his grandparents. The entire cast is splendid and the acting first-rate. Veteran Hollywood character actors Will Geer and Ellen Corby are a sheer delight as the fun-loving Grandpa Walton (Geer) and the sternly religious (but loving) Grandma Walton (Corby.) Only in the later years when they replaced John-Boy with a new actor and the original writers left did the series go down hill. (I won't even speak of the reunion movies made in the 1990s that ruined the time-line! At least the Christmas CD they put out after those was awesome!) However this set is Season 2 and the show here is at it's peak and a brilliant watch for anyone of any age, race or religion. I could not recommenced it more. It's a refreshing alternative to the crap on TV they pass off as family entertainment today. Thank God for DVDs!

The wonderful world of the Waltons! 2nd Season
Created: 27/09/10
I loved watching the Waltons when I was growing up. I, too, come from a large family and can identify with the sacrifices the Waltons are willing to make for each other. Sometimes, it means extra time, or effort, or even availability. It seems that having such a huge support system, someone knows when something isn't right. Usually it is brought to the attention of the others...who also care!
The Waltons show deep love for family despite the hardships of growing up in the depression. In fact, the Walton parents are joyful of the coming birth of the new Walton...not afraid...not "can't afford it"...just accepting and joyful. The entire family rejoices! Now, THAT is family!
One episode in the second season was a bit creepy for me. It is called "The Ghost" and it involves a gameboard through which they contact the spirit world. My parents probably didn't let me watch that episode when it aired, and I wouldn't care to watch it again.
I think "The Waltons" is an excellent series. It is packed with the kind of values we would like to see passed on. The family is courteous and kind, honest and hard-working, creative and humorous and the family also has the typical spats that are a part of human relationships. I'm selective about what I allow my children to watch, and "The Waltons" are one of my prize picks in that it reinforces the values we try to teach them at home.

The Waltons - The Complete Second Season
Created: 04/09/07
It's a wonderful old show and we are enjoying each episode - especially during the summer months when everything is a rerun and we don't have cable or a dish.
We already had Season One at the time of this purchase (Season Two) and we plan to continue purchasing each season available on dvd. It's nice to have a family oriented show with a message in each episode -- forget the reality shows and game shows -- Let's have more shows like the Waltons where you can lose yourself in the story and really care about the characters AND safe for kids to watch.

I rated this purchase Excellent. I LOVE the Waltons. This DVD set includes The Complete Second Season. I love watching each story because it takes me back to so many wonderful memories of my own childhood. My grandmother, grandfather, and my precious mother have all passed. So many of the stories have actually taken me back to "Those Good Old Days" we spent together. This DVD set also includes The Thanksgiving Story!!! So...sit back and share the good times and the hard times with The Walton's!! And let each episode take you back to some wonderful memories of your own!

Waltons Second Season

I have always been a big fan of the Waltons so it doest surprise me to know the show had won and Emmy in 1974 for best suporrting actress for Michelle Learned and an Emmy for the 1975 Thanksgiving Special. So far the second season has really been great. It amazes me that this show can calm my nerves and help me learn more about life at the same time. The acting is impecable and the cast is true to form. Highly reccomended!!
