The Warriors is a beat 'em up video game published by Rockstar Games. It was released on October 17, 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and February 12, 2007 for PlayStation Portable. The game is based on the 1979 film, The Warriors. The Warriors is an action-adventure game which focuses heavily on brawling. Like most games from Rockstar Games, several minor gameplay elements are mixed into the experience, such as the ability to use spray paint to mark turf or to insult other gangs.
The Warriors focuses largely on gang rumble style action, with the player being assisted by several other Warriors at once. Throughout the game, the player controls one of nine different Warriors.

This is one of the Best games for PS2. It's based on a 80's movie with the same title.
Cyrus, the leader of the mos powerfull gang of NY set a truce for 9 delegades from every gang in the city for a meeting. Butt something gone very whrong. Cyrus was Killed and a very solid reputation gang from Coney Island, The Warriors, were framed. Now, the warriors must cross the entire city, filled with cops and gangs looking for retribution.
I say that this game completes the movie, becaus you have a lot of side quests who descrybe how the gang was created, how each member joined, and you hame the opportunity to met the other gangs like the Boppers, The high Hats, the Moon Runners... Or you can make you own gang at the rumble mode. If have not yet, you MUST Watch the movie and play the game!

While some may claim that this modification of the Manhunt engine may fall short of being an amazing game, I would argue that the game itself is a wonderful representation of what The Warriors as a movie has to offer. In short, is a lot of brutality that not only provides the game with a satisfying edge, but a level of immersion that easily overshadows most of the games technical shortcomings. The combat in The Warriors is frantic and down-right graphic and the sound feels organic during these fight scenes; when you hear a bottle break over someone’s head the first time you will probably wince. Even running in this game feels panicked due to the loose controls, which make it feel as though the player is running as fast as they can to get away from the cops or an opposing gang. And when a second player is thrown into the mix that’s when the fun really begins, tackling becomes frantic and somewhat challenging in an attempt to not break up your buddy’s combo (there is no way to turn off “friendly fire” in this game).
The level design is fair, with “extra objectives” (really just a few regular objectives whose locations have been removed from the mini-map) that unlock new gangs in the brawl mode (over 400 unlockables). There are also unlockables found outside of your hideout which will improve your gang’s chances of survival on the mean streets (such as hand-cuff keys). There are also back story missions that in addition to the 13 main story missions (5 of which encompass the content of the movie). All in all, if you’re a fan of The Warriors, you'll be able to see past some of the less than beautiful graphics to see a wonderfully fleshed out version of the world of the Warriors. And even if you are just curious, this is a beat'em up you need to check out. And while your at it, get a friend to keep you covered for twice the fun, a second chance when you're down (they can get you out of cuffs), and a lot of back and forth oneupsmanship.

"Warriors...come out to play!"

The Warriors game which was developed and published by Rockstar Games, is actually based on the 1979 cult classic film "The Warriors". The Warriors game includes different events of the movie, as well as a new introduction that led up to the events of the movie. Many of the movie actors did voice overs for the game, so it makes it all the more interesting and makes you feel like you are part of the movie. The game is excellent, the graphics and character models are nicely done, the sound and effects are of excellent quality, and the gameplay is intense with a high replay value. There are few things that are not so great though. For one, the game is loaded with extreme amounts of violence and profanity, which you would expect from Rockstar games who developed other controversial titles such as the Grand Theft Auto games, Manhunt, and Max Payne. Another con, the game does have some minor glitching, which can really only be found on the PS2 version of the game. The Warriors is an excellent addition to anyones video game library (not if you are under 18), and I give this game an excellent rating of 5/5!

The Warriors (Playstation 2)

Over the course of the game, it’s quite impressive just how well Rockstar was able to recreate the gritty, grungy New York originally portrayed in the movie version of The Warriors. The streets and alleys players will wander through have plenty of little touches that help to make the game world feel far more alive. Walls of buildings will have tags marking off gang turf, there’s plenty of litter on the street, and there’s this constant, over-arching dirtiness to everything that helps drive home that players are indeed walking through gang-ruled ghettos. However, while the environments look great, the characters in The Warriors could use a little work. Their animations are up to snuff, with very convincing fence jumping, face punching, and groin kicking, but the details, especially for their faces, isn’t pretty. All of the characters look like they did a ton of botox, leaving their faces numb so that only their mouths move, with some occasional eyebrow raises for extra flavor. It’s creepy to look at.
