The Warriors (Xbox,2005)
Created: 19/06/10
Need to let out some frustration that makes you want to slam someone's head repeatedly into a wall/dumpster/phonebooth, etc? Or maybe you just want to destroy everything in sight, tag the wole city & rob the populace blind? The Warriors just might be the game for you (&/or, a friend). Even if you are unfamiliar with the "cult classic" of the same name, you will nevertheless find a multilayered game with many opportunities to think on your feet & change strategies in order to become "The best" gang in 1979 NYC, & then eventually to fight your way home to Coney Island after being framed for assassination. In addition to the "turf objectives", there are loads of bonus unlockables, including flashback missions detailing each member's history with the gang, a multi-player "rumble mode" with several options, a side-scrolling old-school arcade version, & the option to play the game as one of the opposing gangs (The Baseball Furies), which starts you all out w/baseball bats! It also has a great soundtrack mostly culled from the movie & playable on the ghetto blasters found throughout the game & in the "hangout" to which you return after all missions (except the movie missions) You command up to 9 Warriors at a time via "warchief commands". the commands are "watch my back", "wreck 'em all" "let's go", (all self explanatory) & "hold up" which makes everyone stay where they are, scatter which makes everyone avoid detection & hide in the shadows where the police &/or other gangs can't see them, or "mayhem" which depending on the situation will either make your gang members destroy all destructible objects in the immediate vicinity, or clean out any establishment that you are currently relieving of its' goods. If you are playing in 2 player mode player 1 is warchief & all warriors (except player 2) will follow him. The only problem that I can find is that there is no option to change from horizontal to vertical split screen in 2 player, other than that it's perfect, even allowing you to chose between true split screen & split screen merge (when players are close enough it switches to one screen). Completing all of the bonus objectives will find you "snuffing out" all of the other gangs "burners" & "tags", destroying key objects, etc. You can resist arrest, un-cuff fellow gang members, handcuff anyone, pick locks, mug anyone, blow up cars with molotovs, use almost everything as a weapon & more. This is't a GTA-clone like a lot of other "crime games". With varied objectives, a strong story & intuitive fighting controls, "The Warriors" is a game that will most likely keep you coming back for more. AAAA++++ game all the way! P.S. If you haven't seen the movie I strongly recomend it, it's a classic.

Warriors, come out and play...
Yeah, finally a game that every game designer should have in their library, so they will understand what it takes to take a good movie in a gigantic and great game. Extend it, expand it and explore every corner you can.
Based in the movie The Warriors, this game is a squad based Beat'em Up with a deep story and a big bag of interesting side missions.
You play the main game as the NY gang "The Warriors", as they build their reputation and stand their ground against the rival gang "Destroyers".
You are not a hero here, you will attack innocent, steal, mug, use drugs and race in wheelchairs.
You have a bunch of Warriors with you all the time, and you can give them some orders, all simple but effective.
The whole game can be played with Co-Op, which really helps, but it do not explore the 4-ports of the XBOX, only two.
You also have a brawler mode, where you can use a premade team or build your own group of muscles. All simple and fun.

im so glad that game creators have actually gotten original with their new titles. sure this is a movie based game, but it is sooo much more than that.not only does it have many events from the movie, but it creates an entire backstory of how the characters got in the gang and how they ended up.
the gameplay is flawless as you braw your way to controlling the streets.
the graphics are typical R*. they dont care about graphics.and i like it. they focus on gameplay and how great it plays , not how pretty it is.maybe EA couldve used this advice when they made madden06 for xbox 360 lol.
and there is soooo many side stuff to do besides the main story. you can go through the neighberhood reaking havic. or you can create your own gang and battle other gangs via main menu. and once you beat the game you unlock this sweet sidescrolling game that goes through the entire game in about an hr. it reminds me alot of double dragons for snes.
overall i would give this game a 9.4/10.
i reccomned this game to anyone that is a fan of the movie or you just love classic nastaga.
oh and i almost forgot this soundtrack is freakin sweet! it has all the original music from the original movie. and another thing is the voice acting is great.it is the original actors from the movie.how cool is that?!?!
please say wheather or not this review was helpfull or not! thank you!

Warriors...Come Out To Play

Ok after reading the previous three reviews I am appalled. Please don't take advice from these 12 year old schmucks. With that said this game was nothing short of brilliant. Rockstar did a phenomenal job with the Warriors. I can't think of another game this year that had so much pop culture. This game stayed so true to the movie it was sick. With most of the original cast reprising their roles and songs from the film added in only made it extra special. The graphics was good along with the gameplay, it was very easy to pick up and play. As for the storyline, it was so refreshing to see how the Warriors was formed, not to mention the addition of the other gangs. I ran through the game on "bopper" and didn't get enough so I ran through it on "hardcore solider" and I'm still craving more. The only thing Rockstar should have done was make it live enabled so us non Halo gamers could join a clan of our own. The bottom line: A very challenging and addictive game that's worth every penny. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially fans of the movie. Now "Can You Dig It"

The Warriors

Words fail to describe just how good this game really is...it is the best game I have ever played in over 27 years. If you like realistic street brawler kind of games or was a fan of the classic Final Fight, then this is a must have.Speaking of Final Fight, if you play through The Warriors you unlock a parody game within it of warriors theme made after the final fight & Double Dragon game. Also any of the characters in story mode can be played in other side game brawls...over several hundred can be unlocked and this is just the tip of the ice berg.I can find no flaws with this game.I now believe Rockstar is the true master video game creating company.
