Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB,Internal,7200 RPM,3.5" (WD10EADS) Hard Drive

I use this HDD for storage of large files. It works very silent, no vibrations. After few hours of backuping files from other drives, surface of the disk was still only mildly warm, but not hot, like my older Seagate. Transfer is very fast over SATA, average was 60-70 MB/s. Thanks to 1TB of space I could remove my 3 smaller and older drives from computer, save my power supply life. You can use this HDD as a system disk, it works silent and fast. So far very satisfied with the purchase!

WOW, since my first computer (with a HUGE 6 GB HDD), I have upgrading ever since. This is my first 1 TB HDD. and MAN, am I glad I bought it!
It saves energy, because I was able to unload three other HDDs that I had installed (2-IDE, 1- SATA) and replace them all with a low energy disk drive.
AND FAST!!!!
Search times are really down, due to the fast seek time.
I have always gone with Seagate HArd disks, due to the 5 yr warranty and the fact that I have never, ever had a failure with one of their drives. In a close second place, is WD with only one failure and it was replaced, so that leads me to use them as well.
I have noticed that downloads also process faster when being saved to this drive vs the other drives I had installed.

All in all, I consider myself as a bit of an advanced hobbyist, having built nearly 30 systems in the last few years and I LOVE this drive. I do think that I will be procuring more of these for future, high capacity systems in the future

If you can find this at a low price, enev used, IT IS WELL WORTH IT

Drive shuts off or "goes green" at inopportune moments .. you have to install some background program such as BOINC to keep it from "going to sleep" ... and does NOT run at the advertised speed of 7200RPM. Not sure what speed it runs, but it is slower than an external SATA set to run USB drive of the same size.

I've been wanting a terabyte hard drive to use for backup and storage for a long time, and I was very happy when I finally got one for a price I liked. I have been very satisfied with this Western Digital SATA hard drive since I got it. It works great, and I have had no problems with it, except for when I first got it and didn't know how to set it up, but that was my fault and there was nothing wrong with the hard drive. It's easy to use and has been very helpful to me and is definitely worth the ninety-ish dollars I paid for it.

If I ever run out of space on this hard drive and want to buy another one, I will definitely be looking at purchasing this hard drive again. I love it!

I purchased a computer with Windows pre-installed, and decided to add a second drive to try out other operating systems. Before purchasing the drive, I had read claims that it was slower than most other drives in its category and but used less energy. About a week after installing it, though, I have not encountered any situations where its performance was deficient in any way. I have not conducted tests that would determine how it would perform under extreme conditions, but I am confident that for the typical user it would meet every expectation. I can not directly evaluate the claim that it uses less energy, however.
