Western Digital Scorpio Black 320Gb notebook hard drive
Created: 16/12/09
I needed to upgrade my 120Gb notebook hard drive on my Dell Inspiron E1505.
After looking at Seagate, Hitachi, Samsung and others, the 320Gb Western Digital Scorpio Black was high on my list.
Reviews rated it highly on it's quiteness, speed performance, low power consumption and price which fitted the criteria I was looking for.
I purchased an external USB enclosure for the drive on Ebay at the same time.
Once I got both, I cloned my hard drive onto the new WD drive using Acronis which I downloaded from the WD website. It took a couple of hours to complete.
When it was finised, I swapped the drives and booted it up. Windows came up just like it should with all my desktops and startup stuff which launched without any problems. All my programs and data files were intact and operational.
I would say I'm very happy with my purchase. Programs and applications run noticeably faster and quieter than my old 5400rpm drive. Although, I did not notice any appreciable difference in battery run time.
Been running with it for over a month now with no problems what so ever.
I highly recommend the WD 320GB Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB hard drive for anyone looking to upgrade their notebook.
There is another model up from this one, model WD3200BJKT, which have a free fall sensor that helps prevent head crash in the event the notebook is dropped.

This hard drive starts programs faster + 10%, it also brings up my photo gallery and lays out my photos almost instantly +20%. I replaced a Scorpio Blue 320gb 5400 rpm with this new Scorpio Black 7200 rpm. It runs at the exact same temperatures as my Blue did, plus it's just as quiet, and no vibration.
I really like both drives, but I just wanted to put a little more jump into my Gateway Core 2 duo laptop, and have an extra drive cloned along with backup files on it.
The few extra dollars was worth the increase in speed, I have had trouble free performance from my Western Digital drives for years.

This is THE BEST hard drive line that you can buy! I have 2 other Scorpio Blacks and absolutely love them. TOP SPEEDS - HIGH CAPACITY What more can you ask for? I
am using this particular HD in a acomdata USB/FW 400 HD enclosure as a Time Machine HD for my mac HD (which is actually a Scorpio as well). Very quick data transfer compared to my G-Drive. I will definitely buy another next time I'm in need of a HD.

Top notch notebook hard disk!!

I decided to buy this HD since my Macbook pro's 5400rpm started to fail me. Speeds where just too slow and whenever i would work on Logic, it would just stop responding. Apparently a hard disk upgrade was all i needed. Its fast, reliable and its WD. Top notch notebook HD for mac or pc.
Highly recommended

I got this 2.5 internal hard drive for my 13.3 MacBook Pro to increase the hard drive space. It's a easy install. Not sure if it made my MacBook quicker cause I added this along with increasing the RAM to 4GB when I got the unit new. So far I have not had any problems.
No noise from the hard drive like some when it is writing
I do like the fact that it will dock when not in use
Went to Western Digital web site to get info. Help me make a choice.
Would buy Western Digital products again.
