Farlow (vocals); Rick Higginbotham (acoustic & electric guitars); Bill Kirchen (guitar, trombone, background vocals); Bobby Black (pedal steel guitar); Andy Stein (fiddle, tenor saxophone); "Buffalo" Bruce Barlow (bass, background vocals); Lance Dickerson (drums, background vocals).Recorded live in England.Personnel: Commander Cody (vocals, piano); Bill Kirchen (vocals, guitar, trombone); Bobby Black (vocals, steel guitar); Norton Buffalo (vocals, harmonica, trombone, horns); Billy C. Farlow (vocals, harmonica); George Frayne (vocals, keyboards); Lance Dickerson (vocals, drums); Bruce Barlow (vocals); Rick Higginbotham (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Andy Stein (violin, fiddle, saxophone, tenor saxophone).Recording information: Hammersmith Oden, London, England; Oxford Polytechnic, Oxford, England; Town Hall, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England.Recorded during a 1976 U.K. tour, WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE shows that you don't have to be from the U.S. to appreciate the many forms of American roots music that are part of the Commander's sound. The enthusiastic English crowd eats up the group's unique blend of boogie-woogie, rockabilly, Western swing, and honky-tonk. By this time, the group had been together long enough to hone their arrangements to a fine point, but were still enjoying the last wave of their initial flush of success. Consequently, Cody and company are at their tightest here, but still full of energy and enthusiasm. Clocking in with 19 tracks, this is the longest of the band's many live albums, giving listeners a chance to experience the full breadth of the Commander's varied sound. The well-known tunes like "Hot Rod Lincoln" and "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)" brush shoulders with Bob Wills tunes ("San Antonio Rose," "My Window Faces the South") and classic rockabilly ("Milkcow Blues").

When you kick back and listen once again to this very unique band you'll smile and probably remember what you were doing in high school! "We've Got a Live One Here" is quite good and certainly worth purchasing! Add Cody to your collection. You'll be glad you did!

    Commander Cody's Universal Sound

    Created: 02/09/09
I have been searching for this CD for years, it is a great live rock-a-billy CD from the Seventies. This music brings back so many good memories of my teen years in Washington state. Commander Codies band was so tight and professional with simple lyrics that anyone can enjoy singing along with. I bought this CD because of its excellent live production, with songs that I have always enjoyed.
