Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (DVD, 2006)

I purchased the Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken DVD for my granddaughter. Her teacher had played in it class and she told me about how she enjoyed it and would like to have the movie. She really liked watching it, and was very impressed with it.She owns three horses and likes anything about horses. The movie was about a girl and her life and work with diving horses.
So glad I could purchase it on E-bay. I looked for it in the stores and couldn't find it.
It was a little higher in price than I wanted to spend considering it was an old movie.

This is an awesome movie about a girl (based on a true story) who has left home and gets a job with the carnival where she takes over for the star of the show as the girl riding a diving horse. She over comes adversity when she becomes blind and learns to ride the diving horse even though she has lost her sight. It is an awesome feel good movie about never giving up and I love the bond with her friends that she makes. It is a great family night movie. This is one of my kids favorites and their ages range from 4-14. It's a good compromise for every one.

Interesting true tale of a young girl struggling to grow up. The story follows Sonora during the Depression era. An orphan, her aunt is about to turn her over to the state when she decides to run away and join the circus instead. Her dream is to become a "diving girl." The stunt she eventually gets trained to do involves jumping of a high platform on horseback into a pool of water. Sonora is stubborn, but eventually grows up falls in love, and learns to face a tragedy in her life head on. Overall a fascinating story.

On the more technical side the acting was weak in places, however a younger audience would not notice the slightly exaggerated acting. I found my film class of 13 year olds were quite disturbed by the age difference between Sonora (perhaps 14 or 15) and her love Al (20s).

This is a great movie for a young girl ages 4th thru 7th grade. Also enjoyable for an adult. Based on a true story, it is a realistic love story. It shows a historical side of the carnival life in the early 1930's that includes horse diving. The main characters in the movie learn to persevere through many hardships.

I have this movie on VHS and have been looking for it on DVD. It is one of my favorite movies. The movie is based on the real life of Sonora Webster Carver who did dive horses at the Atlantic Pier. My father in law actually saw her at the Atlantic Pier way back when. Disney made this movie rated G. It is completely clean. Nothing that is questionable, profane or unclean is in this movie. It is hard to find movies like that that have a good story to tell and excellent acting. Watch this movie. It is a beautiful, entertaining story that you and your children will love.
