Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year

Created: 27/09/07
The Childbearing Year contains a wide range of resources for woman pertaining to their reproductive health. This information includes activities, foods, and herbal supplements that can benefit woman hoping to conceive, who are pregnant, or who have a newborn child. These topics range from increasing fertility health for better odds of becoming pregnant and things to stay away from to reduce the likelihood of miscarriage through safe remedies for morning sickness and ways to alleviate late pregnancy back ache to herbs that will reduce the intensity of post partum depression and safe remedies for colic.

I recommend this book to any woman who is thinking of having a child, is pregnant, or has a newborn. Not only does this book give the reader a clear idea of activities, foods, and herbs that she can use for common reproductive related ailments but the author also explains the safest ways to use these remedies. Moreover, the author also includes foods and herbs that can actually make the situation worse or that can even be hazardous to the baby's health so that the reader is forewarned about such potential dangers.

Great book for any midwife to cherish.

This book should live in your birth/prenatal bag, so that it can be referred to at any moment. While some of the ideas are slightly "older", so is the book (22 years old). But herbs have stood the test of time, so this really isn't an issue. The appendix is great for DIY herbal remedies. This book is a must have for any student midwives taking the NARM.

Great

This is an excellent book for any woman who is with child or has a child. Of all the herb books for childcare and childbirth this is my favorite. Very easy to read and understand. Great natural helps that work! My wife and I used this book with our first child and have continued to look back to it with all of our 5 children. Side note: the author is definitly anti-men and is a witch, which might bother some folks.

this book was on my recommended list for my midwifery program, andI thought it was a good start to a beginners look into herbal remedies. I would recommend coution in a few areas, especial if youa re prgenant or nursing, that you know what you are useing.
other wise, good book. <><

Interesting.....

I bought this book at the recomendation of a midwife. It has a lot of good information about herbs - how to grow, prepare and administer them . Also info about gathering wild herbs, etc. However, I'm not really into the whole "asking plant's permision before you pick them" thing. It has quite a bit of that sort of stuff. :-) As a whole, a pretty good book with some parts to ignore.
