The Wiz is Wonderful!
Created: 25/03/09
I was exposed to The Wiz because of my love for Michael Jackson. My mother caught it on television, which is apparently a rare event, and we watched it together. I loved it!
I was impressed with how The Wizard of Oz, which noticeably is dominated by whites/caucasians, was flipped into a fantastic and musically amazing version that seemingly mocks the white overcast in The Wizard of Oz. The Wiz has a special charm that makes you keep watching. Whether it be the way the costumes are put together, how the music makes you smile, or just because Michael Jackson and Diana Ross are singing together, it's a wonderful addition to any DVD collection. Those who are fans of Broadway and musicals will also love it, and I, for one, will continue to watch it.

The Wiz, a unique movie to remember!
Created: 21/12/07
If you are into zany, interesting, or even just a little bit (weird) musical movies, this is definitely for you!
The Wiz has got it all, a great old-school cast – elaborate scenery – and creativity! Yet this movie sticks to the things that made the original The Wizard of Oz so wonderful. The story line is there, just with a lot of creativeness that makes it so unique!
This is one of those movies you can watch again and again, and always find something new. But its definetely not for the more conservative generation. Not necessarily like those people who didn't like the re-done Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it definetely has an edgy humor to it, similar to a muppet humor. A little off-color if you will.
But I enjoyed it none-the less. And I do recommend it!

A Colorful Title for this Version of the Wizard of Oz
Created: 28/07/09
This is a very colorful musical and interesting version of the original "The Wizard of Oz." It has a few differences than the original, however, it was well put together.
It is an African American version and includes Dianna Ross and Michael Jackson. The movie is good to watch as well as funny.
It is a good keepsake to remember Michael Jackson. I enjoy his songs and performance as the Scarecrow, and the songs and performance of Dorothy (Dianna Ross), and the excellent performances of The Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion. All actors/actresses performed very well making the movie enjoyable and one to be remembered. This is a excellent musical to enjoy for years to come, and is good for all age groups; even a baby would like the tunes.
The message in this version is to believe in oneself and not to fear to reach out to achieve one's dreams.

The Wiz, (VHS, DVD)
Created: 14/04/09
I bought the DVD of the Wiz because I lost my VHS version. It is a collector of mine so I ordered the VHS also. The Wiz is known as the black version of the Wizard of Oz. Both movies are good to watch to view two ethnic versions and settings based on one movie.

The Wiz

I had not seen the Wiz in many years, but I have fond memories of it. I really enjoyed the performance by Michael Jackson. It would have been great if he had done more movies, that could have turned his career in a new direction. Also Diana Ross did a fantastic job in the movie. My grandkids have always loved the 1939 version of the movie with Judy Garland, but they were so excited to see the new version -- the Wiz. They sing the songs in the movie and also get up and dance while watching it. Something they don't do while watching the old version.
