Track Productions, St. Anne Des Lacs, Canada.THE WOMAN IN ME won a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "Any Man Of Mine" was nominated for Grammys for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Shania Twain was nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist.Personnel: Shania Twain (vocals).Recording information: Battery Studios, Nashville, TN; Javelina Recording Studios, Nashville, TN; Record; Sound Stage Studio, Nashville, TN.The low, sultry voice of Canadian Shania Twain serves her well on THE WOMAN IN ME. This is a compact collection of middle-of-the-road country, warped by the rock influence of Twain's producer/husband, Mutt Lange.Twain is not just a singer; she also co-wrote most of the songs with Lange, and they run the gamut from soft ballad to reeling rock. The opening track is a slow, slurry ballad that would be just as comfortable on the adult contemporary charts as on the country charts, and is reminiscent of Bette Midler's style of balladeering. The single "Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" is a bouncy shuffle that could bring Twain to the forefront of country music. Her vocal is pure country, straight from yesteryear, a matured Brenda Lee. But with thick, rock-oriented production, there isn't much, besides Twain's twang, that labels this album "country."

Not A Big Fan of Country?

Created: 27/04/08
Shania is the sexiest thing in Country Music period! This album rocks because it was produced by her husband Robert "Mutt" Lange. The same guy who produced Def Leppard, and Brian Adams to name a few. Before this album, I'd never owned any country music albums.

I always enjoyed listening to this CD when an ex girlfriend used to play it. Guess I decided it was time I owned a copy, especially at such a good price. If you're not normally a big fan of Country. Shania will win you over... at least for this album.

I love this CD! I bougt it when it came out and at the time, I had 3 girls who also loved it. We would line dance to it in the kitchen and because of this CD, I took lessons then would go home and teach the girls. They (we) played tis CD until we couldn't play it anymore. The songs are so soothing and sassey at the same time. I have really missed this music. Now I have it back and have even downloaded the songs onto my computer. Now I can save the CD. I'm glad I found and won it.
