WWF - Andre the Giant: Larger Than Life (DVD, 2005)

This is just another video that WWE mashed together or copied from VHS - much like the Shawn Michaels Boyhood Dream or The Best of The Intercontinental Title DVDs. This DVD has several matches of Andre's, but clearly none were his best - maybe the only exception being his WrestleMania 1 bout with Big John Studd. The other matches are ok and good, if you're just looking to see some matches featuring the original giant. However, if you're looking for his best matches, you won't find them here. If you're looking for a biography and documentary on the career of Andre, you won't find that here either. This is just a series of matches - again, I remind you that they're not the best - which makes this DVD fall short and leaves viewers yearning for a complete collection. Hogan has an anthology coming out, Flair has his and other wrestlers have their collections...so why not Andre? Andre was a huge (figuratively and literally) icon within the WWF and he needs to have a real DVD collection. If you've never seen Andre wrestle, this might be worth your time. If you're a fan of Andre and old wrestling, you might find yourself disappointed in the presentation and production of this DVD. It's ok in it's own right, but really, we're looking for a collection with his best matches and the story of his life/career. It's a shame that one of the fallen greats has yet to have a true tributary DVD collection in his honor.

I bought this dvd to introduce the larger than life wrestling star of the past (Andre the Giant) to my 9 year old son. Just describing Andre to him could not possibly give a grasp of who this true giant was = you have to see to believe. This dvd tribute does a very good job of showcasing Andre's great presence in wrestling. There's a good mix of matches that give you a feel for the talent and brute strength Andre brought to the ring. Several interviews also give the viewer insight into Andre's great personality and warmth. There could have been more biographical information put into this dvd to give you a more rounded view of Andre's life. As it is, it gives you a glimpse of a true giant of size and spirit that is very rare in this world.

Andre The Giant was the largest athlete in professional wrestling and this dvd was a poor attempt to cash in on his name. From the beginning you can tell that this dvd has something different about it, whats different about it? You can easily tell that it was ment to come out on vhs back in the mid-80's! I have no idea why it didnt but if your a fan of the older matches (pre-1985) than you might like this dvd. This should have been a three disk set but like I said it was a poor attempt to cash in on his name. It was cheaply edited and had some lame matches in it. It was very disrespectful to the eight wonder of the world, I'm sure Andre is turning in his grave R.I.P

This DVD offers only matches. There is no current commentary or life story. Not what I expected. I was expecting more of an in depth look into the childhood/adult life of Andre. Instead, all I got was a VHS from the 80's converted to DVD. POOR!

This DVD is basically a tribute to the one true gaint of WWE Wrestling, Andre. It features all of his best matches and is a great buy for any WWE fan. This is not a movie really, it's more of a biography of Andre the Giant. If you're not into the WWE this DVD may not be for you. But if you want to watch some of the brutal wrestling matches ever, this is a great buy.
