A Great Collection To Honor Stars of Yesterday
Created: 13/09/06
This collection takes some of the big names from the 80s and gives you a brief documentary/biography on them. Stars like Hogan, Piper, Flair, Heenan and some other wrestlers that most fans of today wouldn't even know or have seen. For each superstar, we'll get to see where they came from, how they broke into the business and where they've gone with wrestling. Each superstar's segment is probably about half an hour - which is either good, if you don't particularly like biographical stuff, or it's bad, because some of the stars leave you wanting to hear more. There's three discs and each disc has several stars on it. You'll get to see personal photos, old photos and clips, plus comments from the stars themselves as well as their peers. On top of the feature presentations, there are extras like clips, interviews and matches. While some fans might find the older style of wrestling to be boring, older fans or those who respect the older stuff will love it. I think younger fans will enjoy this because it's not a long drawn out presentation of stars they might not know or care about - it's almost like a cram session covering some of the biggest names of wrestling in the 80s. I enjoyed it because I like hearing where stars come from, how they broke into the business, personal highs and lows - so anyone who enjoyed DVDs like the LOD and Jake Roberts set will definitely like this too. It's a great collection providing some vintage footage and classic match-ups. Like I said, older fans, or those who enjoy/respect classic wrestling, will definitely enjoy this; but, I think younger fans might too just because of how it flows and is presented.

blast from the past-wwf greats

As a big WWF fan back in the day, i'm always fascinated with watching and reading whatever i can about the all time greats in pro wrestling. This dvd gives a taste of some of these high profile characters like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Rowdy Piper. As it is entertaining, it just leaves the viewer wanting of more. Maybe i'm biased because i think wrestling was at its greatest in the 90's. This dvd is good in the way it gives history on these characters as well as memorable matches, but again after watching i was hoping for more late 1980's moments and more of a sparkle instead of the more boring wrestling in the decades that past.

Wonderful memories!

This reminded me of why I fell in love with professional wrestling in the first place. Except for Hogan, I was a fan of each and every one of the wrestlers/managers on this DVD. Just never became a "Hulkamaniac", nothing against him personally. In my opinion, they forgot one of the greatest of the 80's: Macho Man Randy Savage!! Maybe some other time they will go more in depth about him, just hope it's soon!

The three DVD box set is pretty good. It features short bios of each individual star from the 80's and has some decent matches. It is a good buy if you were a fan of WWF in the 80's. A good piece of nostalgia.
