WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role (Sony PlayStation 1, 2000)

This game came out back in 2000. It was the last WWF/WWE game released by THQ for the PlayStation 1 or PSX. Here's what you get:

MATCH TYPES:

SINGLE: One on One.
TAG: Two on Two, must Tag to get other guy in.
HARDCORE: Anything goes, weapons ETC.
ANYWHERE FALL: Pretty much hardcore, but you can go backstage.
HANDICAP: Two on One or Three on One.
CASKET MATCH: To win, get your opponent inside the casket, and close the
lid.
TLS: Tables, Ladders and Chairs(Oh My!) battle with all three things in
your match.
TABLE MATCH: Slam your opponent through a table to win.
SLOBBERKNOCKER: A phrase made famous by Jim Ross, it is where you battle
through opponent after opponent in an amount of time.
IRON MAN: Most falls in a certain amount of time.
LADDER: Climb a ladder and take the belt off the hook to win.
CAGE: Climb out of cage to win.
HIAC: Or Hell in a cell, Battle One on One and destroy your opponent.
SPECIAL REFEREE: Exactly what it says.
KING OF THE RING: Battle to become King Of The Ring.
ROYAL RUMBLE: Eliminate everyone by throwing them over the rope before they
eliminate you!
SURVIVOR SERIES: Battle to survive.

CREATE A WRESTLER: Create your Idea of a superstar.
CREATE A TAUNT: You can do practically ANYTHING in this section.
CREATE A STABLE: Create your own team.

Have fun with this game. But make sure you pick up a good copy. The copy I got was scratched up. I had to resurface the disc to brand new. Well anyway I bought it for $2.50 without the case and instructions. Its pretty easy to play.

"WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role" still holds up to this day and is the best wrestling game on the PlayStation (PSone) has to offer. It is very easy to pick up and start playing. The controls are very easy to follow and learn. Gameplay is greatly improved over the first game as there is a larger variety of moves and match-types available. The game is packed with numerous features and modes which add a great amount of re-playability to the game.

The game has a tremendous roster consisting of over 55 superstars which features most of the WWF roster from the year 2000. Most of the superstars from the first game return and they are joined by a large group of new superstars. There are also various unlockable and hidden superstars including the likes of Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Cactus Jack, Goldust, and Michael Cole, just to name a few.

This game also marks the first appearance of the Ladder, TLC, and Hell in a Cell Match in the SmackDown series as well the first and only appearance of a Casket Match! Other match types include King of the Ring and Royal Rumble. The Backstage Areas available has increased and improved and they are even more interactive than in the first game.

Season mode is 1-4 players and seemingly can last for as long as the player wishes. Through the season mode, you can earn ability points, unlockable superstars, new match types, and extra parts and costumes for the created superstar mode. The Create-A-Superstar mode is vastly improved over the previous game as you are now able to customize many aspects of your character much like in recent SmackDown games. You are still able to use the heads, torsos, or lower body of existing superstars. In addition, Create-A-Taunt, Create-A-Manger, and Create-A-Stable are available in the game.

"WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role" is an excellent game that is fun and easy to pick up. With the game's numerous modes and features, it's re-playability value is very good. This game surpasses the first game and, in many aspects, still better than it's own sequel "WWF SmackDown: Just Bring It" on the PS2. So if you want to feel nostalgic or just like wrestling games, this game is for you.

i picked this game up in late '01 at the same record store where i found the first smackdown game. i got this for $10. and disappeared in my room again.

they improved upon the previous game TEN FOLD here. the season mode is... well... seemingly UNENDING. the addition of stables, new moves, new wrestlers, new weapons, new areas, new abilities, and the create-a-wrestler mode has been COMPLETELY revamped, giving you the ability to TOTALLY customize your wrestler.
i enjoyed this game for MONTHS, and if i knew where my copy was, i'd probably still be playing it.

hell in a cell, slobberknocker, tlc but a taste of the matches they incorporated into this game. a more fluid grappling/reversal/counter system, more ways to attack your opponent, a bottomless season mode, complete customization of your wrestler... another classic from the gang at thq.

this should be a part of every wrestling fans collection.

I had this game and i gave it away but i am a huge wrestling fan and i like the older games and this one is the best when u enter the ring it just shows them walking doing their thing and the entrance movie is the background but i like the game and i def. think u should get it.

I like wrestling games and it was in good price and dislike is the case is broken. but the games is in good state and 5 gemes wrestling for $33.00 is good prices.
