X-Men (DVD, 2000, Sensormatic)

Bryan Singer, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart|Theatrical release: 2000 | Rating: PG-13 (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

Based on the long-running Marvel comic book series, X-MEN takes place in the near future, as certain humans are evolving into mutants with special powers. In the Canadian wilderness, a young runaway mutant named Rogue (Anna Paquin) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), a bad-tempered, quick-healing mutant with retractable metal claws, are suddenly attacked by the powerful Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his lackeys. Fortunately, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Storm (Halle Berry), students of the compassionate Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), interfere and bring them back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Here Wolverine and Rogue learn more about the conflict between Xavier and the militant Magneto, who wants to power a device that will genetically alter humans, with possibly deadly results. Only Xavier's students can stop Magneto's plans. Director Bryan Singer (THE USUAL SUSPECTS) displays his expertise with an ensemble cast, accomplishing a feat by making the first live-action film about an entire group of superheroes. Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the ill-tempered Wolverine is dead-on, while Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are ideally matched in their Martin Luther King, Jr.- and Malcolm X-like roles. Smart and well-paced, X-MEN towers above most comic book movies.

A very good action movie and great adaptation

Created: 24/01/06
This movie is very well created and a very good movie adaptation of a comic book. There were some minor changes made to the characters adn wardrobe, but none are bad at all and all make for a better movie.

The action is fantastic and the special effects are great. It is a funny and non-stop with a good back story that gives you enough background so as not to bore you to death. It is obvious this is the first in what will be a franchise of X-men movies, but this is a great stand alone movie and is very good.

This version has the anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1 aspect ratio) and if you have a widescreen television you want to get this version. The sound is of course incredible with 5.1 Surround. The bonus material isn't the greatest, but there are some interesting stills and the presentation is pretty state of the art. It is worth the purchase just for the movie, but you can probably get a better deal on one of the package sets with 1.5 or the complete set of 1, 1.5 and 2.

Great!A must have

Created: 05/10/06
I really really love this movie, the first time I seen it.I seen it on t.v. and I loved it.I love every single one they made. One of the things I love about it is the powers the mutants have.Like being able to control the weather which Halle Berry plays as a gifted woman named Storm. Also, there is Hugh Jackman which is Wolverine.Who can regenerate healing each time he gets hurt,he has a secret past. Also, he has the power but it was made as a lab rat.As wolverina claws. There are so many different powers it is not even funny.Well, you really want to see this movie and I hope I helped bye.

X-Men

This was a good movie for someone who never read a comic in there life. It was well written and well acted but had almost nothing to do with the X-Men comic book series. The cast was done very well with a few odd-ball ones. It has a simple story line that is easy to follow, just like most comics. All in all it wasnt a bad flick.

As a big fan of SCI-FI movies, this one ranks up there with the best of them. Great acting, realistic effects, very decent story line and a proper ending. Hugh Jackman and the others have really pulled this off!! Sit back and enjoy a great X-Men movie.

X-MEN 2000

I PURCHASED THIS DVD BECAUSE, I THINK HUGH JACKMAN IS FANTATSTIC IN ALL WAYS. WONDERFUL ACTOR, HUSBAND, WONDERFUL PERSONALITY, HANDSOME & A PHENOMINAL PHYSIQUE & SO RICHLY TALENTED.

ALSO, I LOVE PICTURES OF THIS SHORT (SCI-FI TYPE). I SAW THE LATEST ONE IN THE MOVIES (5/2/09) & I REALLY LIKED IT. I WANT TO CATCH UP WITH THE OTHERS THAT I HAVE MISSED IN THE PAST AS WELL.

I DID ENJOY THE ACTION & STRANGE SCI-FI FUTURISTIC SITUATIONS.
