Good basic 5.1 surround reciever. For under $200 this was a good deal. Has all the basic function you need, including individual speaker level and distance adjustments.

The maximum volume I get out of this amp when using the 5.1 digital is a lot less than I got from my old amp using the same inputs and the same speakers. It is plenty loud for watching movies; but probably not what you want if you are trying to play music for a loud party.

One disappointment I had was that even though this has HDMI connections, it does not use these connections for audio. These are simply switched connections that let you control what is going to you TV through the reciever. But you will still need a separate optical connection for the digital sound. For example from a BluRay player you will need both and HDMI cable and a fiber optic link to make this work correctly.

Overall it is a good quality BASIC receiver for a low price.

I have a Bose 5 speaker home theater sound system with a Sony LED/LCD TV. It was recommended that I use this Yamaha Receiver instead of the Bose Receiver with this system. It works great and is easy to operate. Especially for the price. I liked it so well that I have 2 of these receivers. My first one I purchased about 4 years ago. I bought this one because they may discontinue this model.

    home theatre reveiw

We switched from aan old pioneer d3s and I can only say that this reciever is excellent for sound reproduvtion and steup. Especially the dsp and dolby digital for movies it is just awesome.. it is a little hard to understand the owners manual but not if you are used to this type of system. the only real problem I have with it is a lack of on screen display, but at this price point I can get over that. All in all it is great for movies, the first one I tried it on was transformers and there was definintly a noticeable difference from the old reciever. Even my wife who is not into this sort of thing noticed. One thing I would recomend would be to buy a powerd subwoofer.

    Good Product

We purchased the receiver to replace one we had in our home theatre. Pretty easy to install and hook up all compnents, but the connection to the sub-woofer was different than the original receiver so we have to convert.

Sound is very good, great reception. Not as easy to use as original in selecting the type of sound we want (theatre, sports event, concert hall, etc.)

Overall good product and seems to be a very good buy.

    100% fully satisfied

This unit sold as a class B, which simply means it does not meet all factory Q.A. standards,(normally a blemish) & the seller normally provides a 1 year warranty.
After inspection, the marking (sticker) on the unit i received is clearly marked "C STOCK", which simply means this unit was a demo or floor model.
I am 100% satisfied with this receiver. I did research before purchasing this unit to avoid any surprises on my part. I strongly recommend this type of purchase as there are considerable savings for what is still essentially a brand new, fully functioning unit.
