Audio Return Channel allows consumers to use a single HDMI connection to transfer digital audio from the TV back to the AV receiver eliminating the need for a second cable between the TV and the home theater AV receiver.Cinema DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD audio sources. Virtual presence speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers. The actually measured sound field data contain the information of the height of the sound images. Cinema DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of the sound images so that it creates the accurate and intensive stereoscopic sound fields in a listening room.Pressing a SCENE button will automatically launch a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by changing input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display.Yamaha's YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, and more. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!A USB port on the front panel provides convenient connection for your iPod/iPhone, which also charges when connected. It is a great receiver!
Scene buttons are very convenient, all the music enhancer works great. Most of all it has ypao system, when you put a mic on the spot you hear music and run a test, it autimatically measure the distance between speakers and optimize to the best speaker setting! it is amazing product! It also has 4 hdmi input and audio return chennel as well!

) I needed a new receiver for my living room surround sound system. I only needed a 5.1 and after researching what was out there (price vs wattage/functions) this is the best bang for the buck in my opinion.
This thing does video switching flawlessly and sounds great (I set up the system with YPAO). I honestly can not find anything to gripe about.
I bought this knowing full well it was a "B stock" item and the only thing that is different from the new stock ones that are over a hundred dollars more is the shorter warranty (1 year).

) I was replacing a 10 year old Kenwood, and after several hours of internet research, decided on the Yamaha. It is paired with Energy speakers and sounds fabulous. Set up was relatively easy and the automatic surround sound system was spot on. I would highly recommend this product.

The sound of this unit is excellent. Configuration was simple to setup. Power is more than plenty for larger speakers as well. The on screen menu is very user friendly. Thats all i have to say about that.
