Yanks (DVD, 2005)

This film has easily fit into my top ten list for over 30 years. It is so carefully crafted. Each and every scene has something wonderful to offer — something funny or interesting. The characters are exceedingly believable, and even the ones with bit-parts are memorable. If you are looking for a war movie with battle scenes and lots of bombs exploding and special effects, this wouldn't be your movie. It's a WWII home-front movie, and it's as good as they come. Great plot, script, acting, casting... everything. Thanks for Yanks.

Great chick flick. Also a good example of war torn Britian and life with American soldiers in England before they shipped out over seas to the European theater.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. It has romance as well as a glimps of what it may have been like for American soldiers in England during WWII. I think that it's one of Richard Gere's best efforts.

Brought back wonderful memories. As a schoolboy in Britain during WWII,I remember the great kindness shown to we kids by American military personnel. The fashions and the atmosphere depicted in this movie are beautifully and faithfully recreated. A brief segment shows the colour prejudices of the time, the only violent scene. An epic war movie and not a shot fired.

I have loved this movie ever since I saw it on cable years ago. It shows what life was like in England during WWII when Americans were stationed there. It's a love story but not just a chic flick.
