Publisher's Note
Margaret Simon, almost twelve, has just moved from New York City to the suburbs, and she's anxious to fit in with her new friends. When she's asked to join a secret club she jumps at the chance. But when the girls start talking about boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret starts to wonder if she's normal. There are some things about growing up that are hard for her to talk about, even with her friends. Lucky for Margaret, she's got someone else to confide in . . . someone who always listens.

Great Book for a young girl becoming a woman

Created: 28/05/08
I read this book as a young girl. No words can actually describe what changes come as a young girl approaches this age..I recently had the talk with my own daughter and right now she doesn't have questions but I remember reading this book and thought she would enjoy reading the book later on. Judy Blume does a great job on this book with all the changes that goes on with a young girl and how to be accepted.

Having 2 daughters, I knew this book was a MUST> It helped ME when i was pre-teen. It answered alot of questions I had, but was to shy or embarrassed to ask! It is an awesome book to give to ANY young girl...ages 9 and up! It is a good way to open the doors to a much needed and necessary discussion for young girls going thru the changes in their lives. Both physically and mentally. Let's them know that everyone experiences these changes, but at all different times in their lives and in different ways.......

Aer You There God? It's Me, Margaret

Created: 05/07/08
I am a second grade teacher who loves to read and teach children the love of reading. This book was my favorite as a child, and I wanted to share it with my students. I try and teach my students that through books they can travel to far away places and meet and learn about different characters from different backgrounds and ethnic groups. Reading opens the doors to many exciting and new adventures for my students. Through reading they can experience and learn about how people from all over the world live, deal with problems, and experience positive experiences that will help mold them into productive members of society.

Good for Judy Blume

Created: 07/07/06
Unlike many writers in her "day" she was willing to tell it like it is. She was and is a controversial writer which never stopped her. Her many books points to life as it is to the young people and the older ones too. I would and will recommend this book to my granddaughter as I did my daughter when she's was ready. I think 8-9 is VERY appropriate. Grandma of 3 girls of which one is my daughters.
Highest marks possible! 5/5

A family friend recommended this book for my 9 almost 10 year old daughter. It explains how their bodies will change with humor so they are prepared. I wish this book were around when I was younger.
