Thomas' raspy voice wraps a romanticized alienation around folky, roots-inflected rock tunes that share the thematic aspirations of Van circa TUPELO HONEY and The Band's self-titled second album, if not their literary wisdom.Having lived through the grunge breakthrough, the Georgia quintet puts far more `oomph' into their power-chords than those classic rockers ever could. Their best results--the melancholy description of an emotionally isolated lover on "3 AM," the embittered daydream of "Real World," even the upbeat don't-give-a-damn rave-up "Girl Like That"--fit snugly on the same shelf as the aforementioned Crows and fellow crackers Collective Soul.

Yourself Or Someone Like You - Matchbox 20 CD

Created: 10/12/07
CD has many notable hit songs from radio (Real World, Long Day, 3AM, Push, Back 2 Good, Girl Like That, Shame, Hang) With the exception of tracks #10 Busted and #8 Argue, you can pretty much put the CD in your car and roll with it. Lots of good tunes. No real regrets. A must have for college student or recently graduate.

Yourself Or Someone Like You

This CD is so very good. I became a huge Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas fan from listening to the song "Smooth", with Santana. There is simply something about Rob Thomas' voice that absolutely hooks me. I could listen to him, to this CD, on hours on end. As a matter of fact, I have transferred the CD into iTunes and onto my iPod. More times than not, I find myself listening to Matchbox 20 more than anybody else!!

Personally, there is not a song on this CD that is bad. My favorites are by far Back2Good, 3am, Push, and Hang. Yes, the songs played on the radio, but the best ones in my opinion. I highly recommend this CD.

The perfect CD

Created: 09/07/07
Every song on this CD could be a hit. In fact, at one point, you could hear five of the first six tracks on the radio at one time - all of them should have been. Instead of being "album fillers", the songs, "Girl Like That", "Damn", "Argue", "Kody", "Busted", "Shame" and "Hang", are every bit as good as the hits.

Enough words - you really need to hear this CD to know exactly what I'm talking about.

Really great service

Matchbox Twenty is one of the most amazing bands of the '90s. This CD is the epitome of what Matchbox Twenty is - an amazingly versatile band with killer sound and relatable lyrics. This is my favorite CD by the band and a catalyst for the music that was to come. If you like this, pick up "More Than You Think You Are," "Mad Season," or even their most recent work, "Exile On Mainstream" - the song from the most recent CD, "How Far We've Come" sounds like it could've been on "Yourself Or Someone Like You" - their amazing versatility is still felt today - I fully recommend this CD if you like '90s alternative or music in general - this CD definitely has mass appeal! Best band ever!

Inadequate

Created: 18/01/06
Matchbox 20 embodies to me the plethora of 90's Pop rock bands with no staying power. Rob Thomas is also a tool with a terrible singing voice. Few tracks to me are worth even a radio listen, and I couldn't stand seeing this cd with an average rating of 4.5/5.
