Album Notes
Megadeth: Dave Mustaine (vocals, guitar); David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, Nick Menza.Personnel: Jimmie Wood (harmonica).Audio Mixers: Dave Mustaine; Max Norman; Ralph Patlan.Liner Note Author: Dave Mustaine.Recording information: Fat Planet In Hanger 18, Phoenix; Fat Planet, Hangar 18, Phoenix, AZ.Editors: Lance Dean; Scott Harrison.Photographers: William Hames; Annamaria DiSanto; Ross Halfin; Peter Cronin; Tony Frederick; Richard Avedon; Neil Zlozower.Unknown Contributor Role: Dave McRobb. The unnavoidable spiritually-damaged roar is audible immediately. Before even a single lyric of YOUTHANASIA's lead track "Reckoning Day" is uttered, the fierce twin guitar attack and the pounding double-bass drums betray the band's poetic motives. By the time singer/lyricist Dave Mustaine admits that "Life's fabric is corrupt/Shot through with corroded thread" on YOUTHANASIA's second track--and first single--"Train Of Consequences," Megadeth's plan of action is more than obvious. Disillusionment is at the core of life, Mustaine warns today's youth, recognize it early on before it grinds you down. While such themes are an every day part of the speed-metal genre, YOUTHANASIA tackles the subject of maturing in the face of adversity with the skill of knowing professionals. Fitted into the album's sleek and streamlined production are arguments that straddle the border between complexity and naivete, but whose overall thesis is just as important to its alienated audience as gangsta rap is to its own. And while the grandeur of tracks like "A Tout Le Monde" or "Elysian Fields" can be off-putting, they ultimately become life-affirming gestures for those who actually listen.

Editorial Reviews
...The Megadeath CD is kind of cool....lots of fat melodic guitar riffs and deep-dish thumping from the boys in the back...
Musician (19941201)

4 Stars - Excellent - ...The trademark crunchy riffs, thundering drums...[and] bitter vocals are all intact, but there is a more introspective slant on the lyrics than hitherto, giving the album greater depth and breadth than its predecessors...
Q (19941201)

...Megadeth's secret weapon--an oiled precision that suggests Stygian rehearsals--is calibrated to kill...

Awesome record!

Created: 15/04/10
This is probably the only Megadeth album that has the same tempo from start to finish, however, it sounds great instead of boring! I guess that just shows the quality of the song itself. Lyrically this is possibly the best from all. A tout le monde is probably the most well known tune from this record but to be honest if you listen to the entire record, you can just pick any songs to be the single cause it's almost equally good! Blood of heroes is my fav, I hope they will play it live one day :)

The bonus tracks on this remastered version are awesome! Absolution is just awesome instrumental track! Millenium of the blind is one of the darkest Megadeth song ever while A tout le monde demo has a beautiful extended acoustic solo by Marty Fridman.

Youthanasia RULES!!

Created: 09/02/08
A lot of people insist Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction are Megadeth's best work and they may be right but Youthanasia is tied with those albums. When I first bought the album in 1994 I was hooked and loved everything song from the opening track Reckoning Day to the last awesome track Victory. I recommend this album to everybody no matter if you like metal or not.

Megadeth - Youthanasia- review

Created: 11/10/10
The 2004 re-master makes the already great 1995 release sound fresh. The major differences are, Nick menza's drums sound solid and clear in the mix. Dave eleffson’s bass sounds big throughout the album especially on tracks like Youthansia and family tree. The bonus tracks are excellent and worth listening too.
