To determine
the size wig your doll needs, use a measuring tape to measure the circumference
of the doll’s current hairline. Wrap the measuring tape around the hairline and
the measurement where the ends of the tape intersect is the size you need.
Remember, it is always best to go up a size than down a size if you doll is
between sizes.
Note: Not every wig will fit every doll perfectly on the first try. Play with
positioning the wig the way you want it before you glue. You may decide you
want to trim the bangs, go for a side-swept look, or add bangs where
there were none before.

DIRECTIONS:
FITTING TYPE 1:
· Fitting Type 1 is suitable for dolls with
a head size that is slightly smaller than the actual wig size. Fitting Type 1
involves having a thin layer of cloth between the doll’s head and the wig to
help fill up some of the extra room in the wig. The layer of cloth will be
undetectable when the wig is fitted properly.
· Step 1:
For
Dolls with Wigs - Cut off the remainder of
the old hair very closely the old mesh cap. Pay special attention to trimming
the hair along the edges of the mesh cap, so that none of the old hair will be
visible. Make sure the old wig is glued on tightly – it if is not, you will
need to re-glue it down.
For Dolls with Rooted Hair – cut or
shave off the old hair. The head does not have to be completely hair-free, but
no hair should show through when the new wig is placed on the head. If the wig
is too loose placed on a bald head, glue a round piece of fabric to the head.
Usually the toe part of a sock is best. Place it over the doll’s head and pull
it down until the doll’s head is covered. Then trim it along the old hairline.
For Dolls with No Hair – Try placing
the new wig on the old head. If the wig is too loose when placed on the bald
head, glue a round piece of fabric to the head. Usually the toe part of a sock
is best. Place it over the doll’s head and pull it down until the doll’s head
is covered. Then trim it along the old hairline.
· Step 2: Practice putting
the new wig on the doll’s head. Make sure you know how to put it on quickly and
that you can do it without smearing any glue. The best method is to use your
dominant hand to secure the front of the wig along the hairline of the
forehead, then reaching up with your non-dominant hand to pull the back of the
wig down over the head.
· Step 3: Apply a generous amount of clear-drying glue in concentric
circles starting in the middle of the back of the head. Do NOT go all the way
to the hairline. The glue should go right on top of the old mesh cap, sock, or
piece of fabric. We recommend using Tacky Glue, but pretty much any kind of
clear-drying glue will do.
· Step 4: Place the
new wig right on top of the old wig and position it properly, just as you have
practiced. Press firmly. Add additional glue as necessary, until all of the
cloth of the mesh cap of the new wig (except the very edges) is secured to the
old wig, sock, or fabric. Wipe away any excess glue immediately.
· Step 5: Once you are sure
the main part of the mesh cap of the new wig is secured, use the glue to secure
the edges of the new wig to the head. Wipe away any excess glue immediately. For
the ears, glue down the edges of the wig just before and just after the ears.
Once they are dry, you should be able to move the unglued edge of the wig by
the ears back so they curve around the ear rather than over it - then secure
the new position with glue.
· Step 6: Let the glue dry before
use, for however long the manufacturer recommends.
FITTING TYPE 2:
·
Fitting Type 2 is suitable for dolls with a head size
that is the same or slightly larger than the wig size. Fitting
Type 2 involves placing the new wig directly on a bald doll head.
· Step 1:
For
Dolls with Wigs – Remove the old wig
completely by prying it off the head with a spoon or one prong of a pair of
scissors. Use the tool like a lever to break the hold of the superglue. It is
easiest to start behind one ear. This is a strenuous process. Be careful!
For Dolls with Rooted Hair – cut or
shave off the old hair. The head does not have to be completely hair-free, but
no hair should show through when the new wig is placed on the head.
For Dolls with No Hair – Move on to step 2, you are
good to go!
Some doll
wigs may be a little tighter than others. If your wig is very tight, you can
stretch it out a bit by gently
pulling on the inside edges of the wig along the elastic. If there is a Velcro
fastener on the inside, detach the sticky parts from each other. If your wig is
a little loose, if there is a Velcro fastener inside you can pull the tab
tighter (Note – a little looseness is just fine. If it is too loose, you can
always use the directions in Fitting Type 1 above).
· Step 3: Apply a generous amount of clear-drying glue in concentric
circles starting in the middle of the back of the head. Do NOT go all the way
to the hairline. The glue should go right on top of the bald head. We recommend
using Tacky Glue, but pretty much any kind of clear-drying glue will do.
· Step 4: Place the
new wig right on top of the bald head and position it properly, just as you
have practiced. Press firmly. Add additional glue as necessary, until all of
the cloth of the mesh cap of the new wig (except the very edges) is secured to
the old wig, sock, or fabric.
