Acoustic Research AR AU Stereo amplifier Up for auction here is a vintage Acoustic Research stereo solid-state amplifier. They just don't build units like this anymore. Sadly have to let this go due to space constraints. The unit is in pretty good shape for its age; it powers on fine, and the power light works fine. All knobs (bass, treble, etc) turn fine without static. Both channels sound fine, I had it hooked up to a turntable and the music came through well. Item measures 15 3/4"w x 9 1/4"d x 4 1/2"h. It has minor wear and tear on the unit, as well as a few flaws: the top of the wood cabinet has some scratching and a few marks, you can see this in photo 7. On the right side of the unit, there are 3 screw holes that the previous owner made -- you can see this in photo 6. And finally, on the bottom, one of the plastic "feet" is missing, but these are easily replaced. However, I am not an audio expert, so please understand that I am trying my best to describe the unit without being able to provide the insight that an expert could. But please bid with confidence, as my feedback attests to the fact that I provide accurate descriptions and superior service This item is being sold "AS IS" item due to its age. The unit will be double boxed and padded with bubble wrap and other padding to insure safe delivery. Shipping to the USA will be $64. This is due to the heavy nature of the object, it weighs apprx 25 lbs. (that's 10.5 kg for us Canadians.) Shipping within Canada will vary between $22 and $27 depending on which province you reside. On 05-Sep-11 at 15:27:24 EDT, seller added the following information: There is also a toggle switch which the previous owner added to the unit visible underneath the power light. I have no idea why he/she did this, and it seems to serve no visible function. As I have said, I have sound tested the unit, and to my ears it sounds good. Please also note that although in the photos as speaker fuse holder is missing, it will be included in the auction and both speaker fuse inputs work fine. |
