"THE FINISH”

Over a period of several years we have developed the uniquely durable and beautiful finish used on most of the products we market throughout Costa Rica. It is 100% natural and comes from the oil of the Tagua nut (which is as hard as cement) and requires a special technique for removing the oil. When this finish is applied it requires temperatures of around 400deg Fahrenheit. This process preservers the natural beauty of the wood 5 to 10 times better than a lacquer finish. The process involves 9 painstaking, precision steps thus providing the finest, longest-lasting finish possible:

Hi Jerry, Just wanted you to know I received the referenced grips today 10/03/2011. They are truly beautiful! I have numerous Colt 1911 grips, original factory, after market cocobolo checkered cut on original Colt factory machines with medallions from Colt not cheap Asian copies, and a set of true elephant ivory obtained from Novack the 1911 sight expert company. There were 2 sets available, Steven Segal (the actor and Marshall Art’s expert) bought one set and I bought the other. Of all the Colts (and I only buy Colts) that I and buy for modification upgrades, I only buy parts from Novak, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown and Karl Lippard (the best of the best). I consider the cocobolo heartwood grips I bought from you to be only second in quality, value and beauty to the original elephant ivory grips I own (the ivory ones were very expensive!) I will show your grips with pride and tell all I encounter where they may find you to obtain such a high quality and beautiful set of grips.

"The Micro Fine Fusion Baked Finish"

I think you have a winning finish here! It feels durable to me, it looks FABULOUS and, for the few guys who would prefer a dull finish, they could easily kill the gloss with fine paper (or even a "green pad") and polish with coarse rubbing compound for a nice, satin gloss. I think your process of heat-fusing the surface finishes is a great idea. It should give you an edge over other manufacturers. Definitely worth bragging about in your listings. LEO

Important notes:

1. FIRST & FOREMOST:

It is MOST IMPORTANT to me that you are provided with the HIGHEST quality item we can provide. We put a-lot of effort into what we do and are very proud of the items we offer for your consideration!!

2. Pictures:

We use a new state-of-the-art HD camera and try and provide you with a High Definition CLOSE-UP picture so you may closely inspect the item you are looking at. Using High Definition and then the zoom feature will in some cases show reflections and things that might appear to be a flaw but I can tell you that with the naked eye you can’t see them. I inspect each item under high lighting and a magnifier. PLEASE USE THE ZOOM FEATURE!! I want to sell you only the VERY BEST!!

3. Backing Material:

We don’t use backing material to strengthen the wood. The wood we use is 100% solid wood.

4. Information Regarding Spalted, Burl, and

High-Grade wood:

All the wood we use is dried. We use our own drying racks to AIR DRY and then we test each piece to make sure it is properly dried and will not warp. If for any reason the wood is not 100% to our standards we discard it. Our wood is properly dried & sealed and should never expand or contract. We never laminate any other kind of wood on the back of our grips for added stability or strength.

5. Stabilizing:

We use only 100% stabilized wood and NEVER use resin, epoxy, acrylic, polymer or any other Un-natural substance to impregnate our wood for stabilizing the wood. If the wood is NOT stabilized we toss it and use another piece.

6. Combined Shipping:

If you notify us that you are buying more than 1 set of grips and would like to combine shipping and would like to save $6.00 on each additional set we will hold off sending the invoice for up to 10 days.

Cocobolo –Rosewood (Dalgerbia Restusa.)

1. Gender Association: Very Strong Masculine.

Cocobolo is the wood of passion. Within it courses the energy of the FLAME, burning hot with DESIRE, sexuality, ambition, adventure, even rage. A purely masculine energy radiates from the wood.

This wood’s energy would be a good tool for goal – oriented people. It will encourage ambition and achievement, and a thirst for knowledge and understanding in whatever the matter is at hand.

Cocobolo boosts intuitive luck, but can lead to rash or hasty decisions. Its energy is adventurous, and may lead a person into danger or travel far from their level of usual comfort. This is NOT always a bad thing.

THE WOOD

(THE HEART WOOD) Cocobolo heartwood has a very fine grain. There is NO uniformity in the swirls of the grain; This along with the various colors of variegated streaks of dark browns, blacks, purples,rich reds, and oranges is what gives it its extreme astounding beauty. The STRIKING colors of this wood make it arguably one of the LOVELIEST woods in the world. Once dried it is a very stable wood with low tendency to crack or chip.

(THE SAP WOOD) Cocobolo sapwood is from the outer ring of the tree. As the tree grows, the sapwood gradually becomes heartwood. When the tree is mature and harvested, the bark is then stripped away to reveal the golden wood or sapwood. In some cases this wood has a depth of more than 2”. It has a much more uniform grain than the heart wood. The sapwood exhibits colors ranging from gold’s, yellows, reds, oranges, grays and black. The striking contrast of the heartwood and sapwood of cocobolo is what gives this bowl its unparalleled majestic beauty. This wood, the most beautiful of all the Rosewoods, comes from the Pacific regions of Central America, extending from Panama to southwestern Mexico. The medium-sized tree grows to 60 feet tall with trunk diameters of up to 2 feet and while rare, the tree is not yet considered endangered. The hard, heavy wood is rare and very expensive and has a natural oiliness that is also antibacterial and is an excellent choice for making serving dishes, utensils etc.

Because of its hardness and natural oils, COCOBOLO takes a superb polish and is the favored wood for the cutlery trade such as the making of knife handles. Other uses include inlay work, brush backs, musical and scientific instruments, jewelry boxes and other specialty items.
