"JOSÈ LUIS SALINAS", ORIGINAL ART PAGE SKETCH SIGNED: "ELLOS". THIS WORK WAS MADE IN ARGENTINA in 1947, PUBLISHED IN "PATORUZÙ SEMANAL#498", BY "ED. DANTE QUINTERNO". BLACK & WHITE, IN FINE CARDBOARD, ALL IN SPANISH. SIZE 22 x 15,5" APPROACH. In 1929, after worked into " Pages Columba" and " El Tony ", he worked hard as advertising illustrator, in 1949 completed its successful series of adaptations of famous novels in the magazine "El Hogar" and was the model for many artists primarily from the impact of "Hernan the Corsair", which was made in 1936 for the magazine Patoruzú. But Salinas longed realize a dream: to have a worldwide distribution strip, working alongside the great figures in what was the epicenter of the global story. After a first attempt in 1941, which was thwarted by the problems of war, the noted Argentine artist insists, and in 1949 traveled to the United States taking samples of their work and letters of recommendation from the delegation of King Features Syndicate in Argentina. Shortly thereafter began working at the headquarters of the company during the first months but is constrained to do minor jobs such as thumbtacks, to adapt the original strips the size of the various media that published, or complete drawings, situation accepting awaiting a favorable opportunity. In 1950 when he entrusted the creation of "Cisco Kid", cartoon based on the novel The Caballero's Way by the American writer O. Henry, whose adaptation was made by the writer Rod Reed. At his best Cisco Kid was never published in 360 newspapers around the world yet they did not have his Sunday page as it never was published in New York, a fundamental condition that established King Features to reach that goal. Salinas's stay in New York lasted a short time, just nine months. War had broken out in Korea and raised the risk that his son Albert was called-up as the son of a resident. Salinas posed the situation to KFS and the answer was: "If (George) McManus sent from California, you may well send him from Argentina." And so, since from then until the cancellation of the strip in 1968 drew Salinas Cisco Kid in Argentina, published in the United States and then, translated, appeared in the journal Patoruzito. After many years, the artist returned to the headquarters of King Features and find a manager who had met during his stay in that place he says, "continued Prince Valiant was naturally his, Salinas ... but you're so far away. If he had stayed ..." IN GOOD- CONDITION!!. THANKS FOR LOOKING!!.
