An original matching pair of 1947 Linen-backed Carl 'Eric' Erickson print fashion illustration for French Vogue, featuring a travel theme from the heyday of glamerous plane travel!

Gorgeous original print by a master of Fashion Illustration!

Carl "Eric" Erickson was a renowned fashion illustrator and advertising artist. He is especially well known for this work for Vogue and Coty cosmetics. From around 1917, he usually signed his work “Eric”, the name he is most known by in the fashion and illustration world. Eric was a hard-working man, a very serious artist who was usually practicing when not actually producing commercial work. For every piece of work reproduced in the magazines he has made dozens of studies. In spare moments he was usually busy drawing or painting from the model – he never drew without a model – and his sketchbook went with him to the restaurant and the theatre.

8.9 x 12.25 each, with a quarter inch more of linen-backing.
Light even toning, consistent with age. Please see big scan below!

Linen-backing gives Original ephemera, prints, posters etc new life! They are cleaned, stabilized and restored; making them much more handleable, frameable and a more valuable asset to your collection.
Linen-backing is the practice of choice of top collectors and museums for conserving and maintaining the wonderful vintage ephemera, posters, and prints that otherwise would be lost due to their natural deterioration. Just like magazines, advertising posters, and periodicals of today, these wonderful graphics and images were, for the most part, not designed to last forever. They were, as the name implies, ephemeral! Linen-backing is a process whereby the print is carefully cleaned, and then mounted on acid free paper over linen, this is a reversible conservation process that stabilizes, consolidates, and preserves these collectible investments for decades perhaps even centuries to come.
