Item specifics

Condition: Used : Split the cost with friends
A vehicle is considered used if it has been registered and issued a title. Used vehicles have had at least one previous owner. The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections. See all condition definitions- opens in a new window or tab
Seller Notes: I consider the boat to be in excellent condition. The known issues are all minor and have all been repaired: Daggerboard damaged due to running aground once in soft mud. I have reinforced dagger-board and reglassed it. There is a minor chip in port rudder which I have reglassed and gelcoted. A chip in the seat which has been re-glassed and gelcoated. There was a crack in interior liner at front of forward hatch. This was caused due to manufacture defect i.e. not enough glass behind gelcoat at that point. I glassed over and covered with gelcote. There was a small hole (dime sized) in the mainsail which I have had professionally patched.

Loaded with extras and modifications.  Over $45k spent and a heck of a lot of labor along with multiple custom items. Vessel was built in 2008 but sat with dealer, never launched or motor run until I purchased it, as new, under Macgregor/Evinrude warranty in March 2011 (vessel was purchased from the widow of a deceased Macgregor dealer).   The vessel is in excellent condition.  I have a spreadsheet listing of all materials spent on vessel since purchase available upon request.

Overview of 2008/2011 MacGregor 26M from SeaView Systems, Inc. on Vimeo.

Trailer: 5-Star Loadmaster duel axle trailer with 'goal post" option (launched boat 6 times in
fresh water only since new).
Engine: Evinrude 60hp very low hours (been through two tanks of 2 stroke oil since new).

  • Self-furling genoa with UV protection strip sown into leach (MacGregor self furler)
  • Dutchman furling system on Mainsail with slugs sewn into luff for easy raising/lowering
  • Harken single line reefing on mainsail
  • All lines led aft through jam cleats
  • Boom kicker
  • Custom slug keeper installed in mast track entrance
  • Chafe protection sleeves on shrouds
  • Spare jib sail (self furling, new)
  • Asymmetrical sail
  • Dousing sock system for asymmetrical sail
  • Wind scoop ventilation.
 Ground Tackle:

  • 8.5lb Danforth anchor, 10ft 3/8”" chain, 200ft x 3/8" nylon anchor rode and swivel

Electronics and nav:

  • Raymarine AutoHelm
  • ST40 speed/depth
  • Garmin 78 GPS
  • Ritchie Compass
  • 100ah deep cycle battery (new 2013)
  • Cranking battery (new 2013)
  • Heavy duty battery switch.

Other on-deck mods:
  •  Mounting bracket for auxiliary outboard: Mounting bracket for small, auxiliary outboard installed on port side aft next to 60hp Evinrude.
  • Gas BBQ
  • 3 fenders (one new)
  • 4 dock lines
  • Lifesling (pretty old and tired but still functional)
  • Cockpit cushions
  • Nico Solar Vent
  • Boat hook.

  • Below water line treated antifouling over epoxy prior to keeping in water for any length of time.  This was done to provide long term protection to osmosis.

Interior Features:

Water Tanks:
  • The water tanks are two 7.5 gallon plastic water tanks that are installed under the forward "V-berth". They are plumbed together with a line led aft to the galley sink. Filling is performed via a hose that is lead up and out of the forward hatch. Included is a BOP free, potable water hose for filling.
Below Galley Storage:
  • Below the galley I have installed a door that is just big enough to allow small Rubbermaid totes to be installed horizontally rather then have to remove cushions to install from above. There are 5 (or maybe 6) totes with the end totes set up with a small lanyard on them. So, to get to each of the totes you remove the ones closest to the door and pull the lanyard to drag the totes at the far ends (fore and aft) back towards the access point. It’s a bit hard to explain but it does allow you to get access to all the totes quickly and without too much fuss.
 Above Galley Storage:
  • This is a little cabinet with a sliding door for holding plates, bowls etc. There is a storage space above it with teak pinrail to hold a radio, glasses etc. , next is a cup storage spot and then a section to hold condiments and cooking supplies. It all seems to work well.
 Wine glass holder:
  • Above the forward galley seat (Stbd side fwd) is a teak wine glass holder.
12V Outlet:
  • Two 12Vdc outlets installed aft of the galley.
House Batteries and battery switch:
  • The boat has a total of 200ah of deep cycle and gell cell battery storage ( 100ah lead/acid battery new 2013) along with a new starting battery (2013). These are both wired through a heavy duty change over switch which is installed directly below the stairway.
 Galley Table:
  • The original system for mounting the galley table was a real pain. You had to unscrew two mounting bolts each time, drop bits, swear and repeat. This year I made up a couple of simple spring loaded toggles which allow you to drop it down or set it back up in about 20 seconds.
  • This year I installed two fans. One is mounted over the galley and will either direct towards the galley sink, the table or the aft sleeping quarters. The forward fan is in the V-berth.
Battery Charger:
  • 110Vac/12V portable battery charger.
 Fwd hatch strut:
  • I installed a strut on the forward hatch this year. Just holds it up to allow breeze to come below.
  • Because the lady I bought the yacht from was selling off he ex-husbands business, she threw in a couple of extra cushions. These are new and unused and I'll throw them in.
 Gas stove
  • I have a two burner gas Colman stove in addition to the BBQ. The instructions warn against using it inside of the boat. It's your call whether you do this or not. It is potentially dangerous but my feeling is that so long as the hatch is open and the stove is carefully supervised, it's no different than using a dedicated yacht stove. If you want to use it I'll throw that in.
Coast Guard required equipment and safety equipment:
  • Flares
  • Air horn
  • 4 ea life jackets
  • Radar reflector
  • Fire extinguisher

Vessel has had very little use (I've had it out for one week each year for two years plus about 10 day trips).  I have the vessel listed elsewhere and so reserve the right to end sale early if it sells.
