It’s important to understand a little about how the coin market works to see how great (and RARE) this offer is to the average collector out there.   Here’s some info on how it works.

Coins are bought and sold daily by professional dealers using bid and ask prices that fluctuate much like stock market share prices.  Dealers use a price sheet (called the “Grey Sheet”) that is published weekly to provide guidelines for transactions between dealers.    They buy and sell between each other at wholesale, then mark the coins up based on pricing guides and the current market to sell to collectors.    We are a wholesale dealer with a lot of buying power and purchase huge lots of coins below wholesale prices, and usually offer them to other dealers in lots for wholesale.   An average dealer may buy 100 of a given coin to resell while we may purchase several thousand!   Since we are flush with a huge inventory of coins, we are now eliminating the middleman and offering these lots here on ebay for collectors and resellers.    When we run out, this deal will disappear.

We sort our huge lots, put the individual coins into 2x2 protective holders, grade them and price them under dealer wholesale price by the following percentages.

AG (About Good) = 50% of wholesale “good” bid
G  (Good) = 80% of wholesale “good” bid
VG (Very Good) = 85% of wholesale “very good” bid
F (Fine) = 90% of wholesale “fine” bid
VF (Very Fine) = 95% of wholesale “very fine” bid

Once the coins are priced, we pull an assortment from our inventory that add up to lots of $25, $50, and $100 and auction them here on ebay.    Yes, we still make a small profit on these coins, that’s what we are in business to do!    But by reducing the number of times these coins change hands before being sold to the collector, we are able to pass along a HUGE savings which absolutely kills the price guide prices, and
even beats the published wholesale price that is usually available only to dealers.

Here’s an example of how deep the discount is on particular coins.    A recent lot of coins we sent out included coins from the chart in our pictures at the top of this page.   The columns show the “Redbook” price (the most popular collectors price guide),  the dealer’s greysheet wholesale price, and finally our BELOW WHOLESALE PRICE in the last column.    Compare them and you’ll see what we are talking about.   

Take the 1891 Indian Head penny in Good condition ffrom the chart.    The normal collector would expect to pay around $3 for this coin through a local dealer which is the Redbook price in the first column.   We, as a dealer, would expect to buy this coin at the wholesale bid on the greysheet for about $1.30 from another dealer and sell for the retail price of $3.   That’s a profit of over 50%.   We not only eliminate that profit, but discount the coin another 30% off of greysheet bid, which is a savings of  almost 70% to you over normal retail pricing!
