Question:
Are SENSEN Shocks & Struts a twin-tube design?
Answer:
All SENSEN Shocks and Struts are the twin-tube design. Twin-tube design shocks and struts have two cylinders; one inside of the other. The inner working cylinder is where the shaft and piston move up and down in hydraulic fluid. The outer cylinder serves as a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. The twin tube has fluid valves in both the piston as well as at the base of the working cylinder.
Question:
What is the difference between these shocks and other brands?
Answer:
There are many shocks on the market using different technology and designs so you cannot compare a shock based only on the name. You must look further into choosing the shock design that is right for you and your vehicle. SenSen shocks are a twin-tube design assembled using Superior Components from around the globe. SenSen shocks are manufactured to Specs and are backed with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Other brands may use a Mono-Tube or Gas-Charged design which are differnet than Twin-Tube's.
Question:
Why are your shock and struts so much more affordable than other brands?
Answer:
Overstock Auto imports directly from the Manufacturer allowing us to offer these shocks at affordable prices. In addition, these shocks are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Question:
What is the warranty?
Answer:
SenSen shocks are backed by the same Limited Lifetime Warranty as other leading brands.
Question:
What causes my vehicle to make clunking noises even though my shocks/ struts are new?
Answer:
This is usually caused by a mounting problem and not the shock or strut itself. Check the components that attach the shock or strut to the vehicle.
The mount itself may be worn enough to cause the shock/strut to move up and down. Another common cause of noise is that the shock or strut mountings may not be tight enough causing the unit to have some slight movement between the bolt and bushing or other attaching parts.
Question:
I can compress my shock/strut too easily by hand. Does this mean the shock/strut is weak or defective?
Answer:
You cannot judge the strength or condition of a shock/strut by hand movement alone. The force and speed generated by a vehicle in operation exceeds what you can accomplish by hand. The fluid valves are calibrated to operate differently depending on the degree of movement inertia which cannot be duplicated by hand.
Question:
My vehicle is equipped with electronic or air suspension. Can it be converted to use standard gas shock/struts?
Answer:
SENSEN does not currently offer any electronic or air suspension conversion kits. Many vehicles have conversion kits offered in the Aftermarket.
Question:
When do I need to replace worn shocks or struts?
Answer:
There are four main reasons that determine when to replace them: 1) To upgrade performance; 2) to restore the vehicle’s designed performance (usually after 50,000 miles); 3) when the vehicle has excessive ride control conditions (i.e. nose dive, body roll, etc.); or 4) when the vehicle has a failed unit (i.e. dripping hydraulic fluid, tire cupping, excessive bounce, etc.).
Question:
What is the difference between shock absorbers and struts?
Answer:
The function is essentially the same, but the largest difference is the way they mount to the vehicle. The strut design acts as an integral part of the suspension by replacing the upper control arm and acting as a pivot point for the steering.
The shock design is used in addition to the suspension and steering components.
