A DISCOVERIE OF CERTAINE ERROURS published in print in the much commended Britannia, 1594, very prejudicial to the dissenters and successions of the auncient nobilities of this realme. To which are added the learned Mr.Camden's answer to this book; and Mr.Brooke's reply.  Printed for James Woodman and David Lyon, London, 1724. vi, [8], 77, [3], 32, [8], 196pp. With portrait frontispiece and several vignettes.

A disruptive figure in sixteenth-century heraldry, Brooke opposed the inaccuracy and corruption then endemic in the College of Arms. His Discoverie of Certaine Errours, first published 1599, attacks William Camden's critical remarks on heralds made in his Britannia (1594). This Eighteenth-century edition includes Camden's response and Brooke's rebuttal, edited from the manuscript of John Anstis. ESTC N60736.

Bound in 1860, in calf over marbled boards, with fine morocco labels to the spine. Some rubbing to the extremities, comensurate with age. Overall, this is indeed a very rare and desirable book.
