I've been buying and selling comics for over 30 years.
All of the auctions I'm listing are from my personal collection. They're either comics I've upgraded, or doubles, or issues that I purchased as part of a larger lot that I don't collect myself. They've all been stored in bags and boards in a cool, dry, smoke-free room away from sunlight.
Every single comic that I'm listing has been carefully checked and graded. To do that I've inspected each and every page, as well as the front and back cover, paying special attention to the staples, checking for cover gloss front and back, holding them up to the light to catch any hard to find creases, bends and other hard-to-spot flaws.
When I assign a grade to a comic, I'm doing my absolute best to be accurate. I'll include the Overstreet description of the assigned grade, so you can be sure of what to expect. I constantly refer to the 3rd edition of the Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide - and if you're not familiar with it I highly recommend it. Especially when it comes to older comics it's a real eye-opener
If you're planning to bid on multiple auctions, I'm happy to wait until you've finished bidding to ship your comics. All I ask is that you let me know, and that you settle up at the end of each week.
And if you'd like to use an alternative method of payment to Paypal please contact me before bidding.
Shipping and Insurance
I offer shipping via Canada Post Lettermail for orders which total less than $50, and weigh less than 500g - approx. up to 3 regular size comics. Please be aware that tracking is not available for comics shipped by this method.
Prices vary according to location, but as a rough guideline I can now ship a single comic to most locations in Canada for $4.95, and 2-3 comics to most locations in Canada for $5.95, as long as they don't weigh over 500g or total more than $50. Please note that single heavier comics (such as single issues of The Walking Dead, Giant-Size Marvel comics, and DC 100 Page Super Spectacular comics...) will also cost $5.95 to send.
A single issue shipped to most locations in the USA costs $6.95, and 2-3 comics to most locations in the USA costs $11.95, as long as they don't weigh over 500g or total more than $50. Please note that single heavier comics (such as single issues of The Walking Dead, Giant-Size Marvel comics, and DC 100 Page Super Spectacular comics...) will also cost $11.95 to send.
A single issue shipped to most international locations costs $11.95, and 2-3 comics to most international locations costs $21.95, as long as they don't weigh over 500g or total more than $50. Please note that single heavier comics (such as single issues of The Walking Dead, Giant-Size Marvel comics, and DC 100 Page Super Spectacular comics...) will also cost $21.95 to send.
All comics sent via Canada Post lettermail will be shipped in stiff custom-made cardboard envelopes. They are sturdy, but not as sturdy as a box.
All orders with a total of more than $50, or weighing more than 500g, will be shipped in a sturdy custom-fitted cardboard box.
Within Canada, such orders will be shipped via Canada Post regular parcel. Rates start at $13.95, and include tracking and insurance.
To the USA, such orders will be shipped via Canada Post Tracked Packet airmail. Rates start at $19.95, and include insurance.
To the rest of the world, such orders will be shipped via Canada Post international surface mail. Rates start at $41.95, and include insurance.
Please note that any orders weighing more than 500g can now be exceptionally expensive to ship overseas. My apologies, but the rates are set by Canada Post, and they've just gone up again!
Shipping via other Canada Post services, like airmail, is also available, but is significantly more expensive. Please ask if you'd like me to provide you with a quote.
And if you live outside North America, please contact me before bidding to confirm the above rates.
Overstreet Grade Description
Very Fine (8.0) - An excellent copy with outstanding eye appeal. Sharp, bright and clean with supple pages. A comic book in this grade has the appearance of having been carefully handled. A limited accumulation of minor bindery defects is allowed. Cover is relatively flat with minimal surface wear beginning to show, possibly including some minute wear at corners. Inks are generally bright with moderate to high reflectivity. A 1/4 inch crease is acceptable if colour is not broken. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. No obvious soiling, staining or other discolouration, except for minor foxing. Spine is almost flat with no roll. Possible minor colour break allowed. Staples may show some discolouration. Very slight staple tears and a few almost very minor to minor stress lines may be present. No rust migration. In rare cases a comic was not stapled at the bindery and therefore has a missing staple; this is not considered a defect. Any staple can be replaced on book up to Fine, but only vintage staples can be used on books from Very Fine to Near Mint. Mint books must have original staples. Paper is tan to cream and supple. No hint of acidity in the odour of the newsprint. Centrefold is mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.
Very Fine Minus (7.5) Fits the criteria for Very Fine but with an additional defect or small accumulation of defects that detracts from the books appearance by a perceptible amount.
