Absolutely fabulous Arts and Crafts, William Morris fabric from famous Liberty of London.  This fabric, although old, is probably a reproduction from the early twentieth century, and is in excellent, sturdy condition.  The design is bright and vivid, blue and green peacock feathers, with both large and small eyes.  The peacock was a symbol for eternal life, a very popular emblem within the romantic Arts and Crafts movement. 

It has however, previously been sewn into a cover for a very large pillow, and a small area has been removed for other use.  There are large hems/seams on the selvedge sides, which can be removed in order to utilize the entire length of fabric.  The size of the fabric, as it stands, is 47x86", with a missing segment of 15x21" measured in from a short edge, which would leave approximately 47x65" of uninterrupted fabric surface. 

I have never laundered this fabric; it should probably be taken to a professional for cleaning or at least an appraisal for the best cleaning method, and the safety of machine laundering, in order to preserve the luscious colors.  While there is genuine archival value to this fabric, it is still quite usable, and would make stunning accents in decor, or in simply framing a segment for display! 

It would be a shame not to use this as it was intended, for as William Morris and his Arts and Crafts friends would say, "Have nothing in your home (i.e., life) that you do not believe to be beautiful and know to be useful," or in other words "surround yourself with beauty in the everyday."
