  • Midnight Oil Transcendence from the Outset

    This is one of the best overall rock albums there is, hands down. It still shocks me how awesome is Midnight Oil's catalog. There is great continuity here between the meaningful, uplifting, spiritually awakening songs. The craftsmanship exhibited by Midnight Oil is so very appreciated again and again. I have been listening to this album on cassette since 1996 and finally got the cd, hearing its brilliance in an updated format makes me so happy, revisiting the poignancy in the songs, such as in Peter's duet with Emmy Lou Harris, which will bring you chills it hits home so gently. In '97 I was writing an obituary for my friend Derek Galbraith who died of cystic fibrosis at age 24. The song Home played in my headphones and helped me complete my writing with the message and meaning for ...
