Do You Know ?
Rollerballs and ball-points differ from fountain pens more than appears to the eye. Very similar to the ball-point differs in two respects. There are two types of Rollerball inks. One is liquid based and the other is gel based. The liquid ink rollerball, invented in 1982, by Sakura in Osaka Japan is a liquid ink similar to fountain pen ink. It is smoother than a ball point and lays down a more precise line and uses a capillary action more like a regulator. The other type of ink is a gel type ink also invented by Sakura in 1984, is thicker and more viscous. One advantage of a rollerball for some people is the pen's relative low maintenance as compared to that of the fountain pen.
