The Chia Seed is an amazing food.
When
you hydrate the seeds in water the seeds shell opens up and absorbs up
to nine times its volume in water. This then forms a gel, which is
called Chia Seed Gel. The gel helps keep your body hydrated. The gel is also 90% soluble fiber,
which is beneficial for your digestive track. People use the seeds when
they are involved in sports or physical activities for endurance. The
seeds have twice the protein of any other seed or grain, five times the calcium of milk, boron which is trace mineral that helps transfer calcium into your bones, omega 3 and omega 6
which are essential oils for the body. They also have a very long list
of valuable nutrients in them naturally. The soluble fiber in the gel
forms a wall between carbohydrates and the body, releasing them slowly
into the body.
The chia seeds are know to lower cholesterol.
Mary Clarke Ph.D. of nutritional at Kansas State University
in a special report, "Eating Fat, Then and Now", writes that the
ratio between omega-6 and omega-3 up until this century had been one to
one. Citing a study, " Dietary Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and
Depression," by Hibbeln and Salem, in the American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition, 62 (1): 1-9 July 1995 she writes: When margarine made from
vegetable oils became popular, this ration changed so that omega-6s now
far outnumber omega 3s by rations from 10 to 1 to as high as 25 to 1.
Accumulating evidence suggest that this change is an important factor
in our high incidence of coronary heart disease and some other chronic
diseases.
Chia seeds contain a
near 3 to 2 ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 which compares favorably with
10 to 1 through 25 to 1 ratios making it easier to lower cholesterol..
In a study of essential fatty acids, Dr Michael T. Murray drives home the point that omega-3 oil from flax seed costs only 1/6th that of omega-3 oil from seafood sources.
This
has been found to be very helpful for people who have trouble
controlling their sugar levels like Diabetics. Dieters love the seeds
because it can be added to any food or drink in a ratio of 75% to the volume of food or drink and will not change the taste. Because the carbohydrates are released slowly you will get the feeling of being full. Many use the seeds as a way to control their appetites. The gel has no taste. The
best way to use the seeds is to take the seeds already hydrated so they
will not absorb your own body fluids to hydrate. The seeds may be added
to anything from water to juice and any food. Any age bracket could
benefit from adding the seeds to their diet. Whether it is for physical

Chia seed is really BIG in Japan
to lose weight. Results varies, but this is safe way to control your
appetite ( in my opinion) and also very healthy! Sprouts (you can
plant them **please ask how if you are interested) are very super
healthy, too! What I do personally is to carry a bottle of water all
day with me with chia seed gel in it! I sip this chia seed water gel
all day!! This works for me to keep my energy level, hydrated, not
eating too much.
I gained 55LB during my pregnancy, within 9
months, I was able to lose most of it... just few more pounds to go...
