Back in the 1970s, few audio companies could come close to matching the legacy of Pioneer. In the war of the Japanese audio super powers, Pioneer seemed determined to come out as the victor in the end with a parade of inspired offerings in just about every category. By the end of the decade, such defining monuments as the SX-1980, SPEC Series, RT-707/909, and so on, only sealed victory in many audio enthusiast’s heart and mind. These are audio legends that served to close out an era where cost was a secondary consideration to the need to claim highest marks for construction and sound quality, and I would be remiss if I wasn’t to include this EQ along with the other items mentioned. As a common companion to the top line SA-9500 integrated and TU-9500 tuner, this was made to perform with absolute perfection, and I would personally add that this may well be the best and most musical sounding EQ’s I have ever listened to!

Having 10 bands is a huge starting point as the extreme low band sets up the perfect curve for pulling the rumble and other garbage out of less than perfect LPs and such while the top 16khz band can do the same for pulling the harsh grain from many of the early digital recordings. That’s just the start and I have to say that I really enjoyed the flexibility that this allowed for tailoring the sound for specific recordings or genres.

I have completely checked this out and it is working perfectly in all respects. Sonically, this fully lives up to Pioneer's great reputation, sounding amazingly transparent. In terms of looks, this is also virtually mint. Very close inspection may show some tiny imperfection or two, but generally speaking, this is about as good as it gets!. The posted pictures not only show the wonderful condition, but also the classic 1970s style and near perfect polish!

Bottom line is that this Pioneer EQ would not only make the perfect companion to any number of wonderful Pioneer pieces, it would just as easily fit the bill in any situation, regardless of manufacturer, that requires a top quality graphic EQ! Buyer pays actual shipping cost. Happy Bidding!
