like to bid on this delightfully beautiful and 100% genuine antique English christening gown?
The soft linen fabric has a subtle embossed stripe running throughout. The gathering under the bodice area is soft and beautifully sewn while the back of this charming little garment has been left open 3/4 way down.
Very unusual to find one in such beautiful condition - it has 3/4 length sleeves with pretty lacework detail at the bottoms and the little seams are covered making it soft and comfortable for baby, the neckline has the same matching lace trim while the bodice of the dress has an exquisite lace panel with floral embroidery/lacework detail. The scalloped hemwork is again fine embroidery and lacework and just so pretty.... I have included some digital close up images of the hemwork and bodice to show more detail. I am advised that this item probably dates back to the 1870's.
