"GRACE DIVINE"
I am a survivor who believes in the inexorable power of the human
spirit. I am a believer who has seen through tragedy into the eye of
the setting sun knowing that the morrow can bring a new and brighter
day. I am a compassionate human being who empathizes with the
suffering of others and wants to be there for them. And I do this by
writing transformational stories filled with characters that are
imbued with passion and love.
I was born in California. When I
was five, my parents divorced. Shortly after, my father abducted me.
He put me in the trunk of a car where I held on to a plastic cane
filled with candy as I lay spread eagle on my stomach. From Tijuana
Mexico, I was flown to Torremolinos Spain where I was left in a dreary
and secluded all girl catholic boarding school for several years
during which time I didn't see my mother.
When I was nine, my
paternal grandmother took me to Mexico City for two years. There I was
exposed to the mysticism and magic of the native Indian cultures.
After returning to Spain, I finally came back to the United States. I
was a teenager who couldn't speak English. Happily, I saw my mother
again. But sadly, six months after my return, she disappeared in a
flood. Her body was never found.
I went to ten schools in
three countries for the first twelve years including five high
schools. During this time, I had to contend with a father whose mental
illness and drug and alcohol addictions caused him to be a dangerous
sadist. I was barely eighteen years old when I ran away from home
because he threatened to kill me with a 38 revolver.
Within
two weeks, I found a job and bought a car. I moved into the dorms at
the University of California at Irvine. From there, I graduated with a
Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics and the ability to speak six
languages.
While at UCI, I met and married a medical student. My first pregnancy
ended in stillbirth. Notwithstanding this and other hardships I
enrolled and graduated from UCLA Law School.
We moved to Texas
and while I was raising my children, I graduated from the University
of Texas Dallas where I received a Masters Degree in Arts and
Humanities. There I took several writing courses.
At this time, I began a career as a visual/writing artist. My artwork,
mostly surrealist, is about women in contemporary society and includes
extensive writings, short stories and poetry. I've had shows at
women's centers and several commercial establishments. I've also
taught art programs in public access television for ten years. One of
my paintings is featured adjacent to a Picasso in the acclaimed
documentary by the BBC: THE PRIVATE LIFE OF A MASTERPIECE: THE KISS BY
GUSTAV KLIMT ICON OF THE 20TH CENTURY.
Then, after many years
my husband and I grew apart and I filed for divorce. The next day I
began to write. The writing was spontaneous and a year later I had a
fully finished science fiction novel, APPLE TOWN, CALIFORNIA. I also
drew and painted over eighty illustrations of the characters and
story. When the movie agent asked me how I wrote it, I told him that I
saw the images and "painted them on paper" with words.
And
where do I get my inspiration? From childhood, I had a vivid
imagination. Incredibly, sometimes my nighttime dreams would manifest
in the physical world. Today, I work as a professional intuitive and
am drawn to the mysteries of the world. APPLE TOWN, CALIFORNIA comes
from this inner place and includes several dream sequences that I've
actually had. It is a story about facing almost insurmountable
challenges and succeeding; a story of light and hope amidst utter
darkness that speaks of the human's souls' capacity for incredible
transformation. Grace Divine
ABOUT GRACE DIVINE:
Grace Divine is a contemporary painter, sculptor, photographer and
writer. Her studio is currently located in Newport Beach, California.
Having leaved in California, Spain and Mexico, Grace Divine has
studied art in the distinguished college of art in Laguna Beach, the
University of California at Irvine, and the University of Texas
Dallas, from which she graduated with a Masters Degree in Art &
Humanities.
As an artist, she is the founder of both, THE PSYCHIC ART MOVEMENT &
THE MULTIVERSE ART MOVEMENT.
Her style of painting and sculpture is a fusion of of many styles
depending if whether she is 'channeling' art or creating art inspired
by her inner visions.
THE MULTIVERSE ART MOVEMENT
Art in the multiverse art movement is art based on the concept that
multiple parallel realities exists, and that 'inspired' individuals
can, through a series of processes, extract, connect to, convey or
channel important, symbolic, and/or relevant information from one
parallel universe to the other.
Throughout history, human
beings have created art. In my opinion, art is first and foremost the
most sacred, important, profound and beautiful form of language that
there is. It is the language that speaks from and to the deepest truth
inside an individual. It is the language that reaches out from inside
a person's soul to everyone and everything around her or him. Where
the individual perceives existence, art fills that need to reach out
to it, touch it, communicate with it, understand it, psychically
posses it, ingest it and more.
And by 'ART,' the Multiverse
Art Movement encompasses new concepts of 'existence' or reality as
presented by developing theories of the universe as a multiverse. As
such, art as understood via a multiverse concept, conceives of the
creative process as a form of overlap or, at times, a form of
comunication between two or more existent realities. In addition, the
Multiverse Art Movement includes all forms of creative endeavor
including: painting, sculpting, photography, writing, music
composition, music performance, acting, dancing, movie production and
others. In this way, the Multiverse Art Movement differentiates from
other art movements that are limited to the visual arts.
THE PSYCHIC ART MOVEMENT
Art of the Psychic Art Movement is art based on the concept that
artists have the capacity to tap into that which inspires them to
create an alternative expressions of beauty and experience. Much like
in the multiverse art movement, the PSYCHIC ART MOVEMENT believes that
'inspired' individuals can, through a series of processes, extract,
connect to, convey or channel important, symbolic, and/or relevant
information from one parallel universe to the other.
ABOUT CHANNELED ART:
"Channeled art" is art that uses energy channeled by the artist. Grace
Divine is a professional intuitive mystic artist. In many of her
paintings she channels the energy of the artists who inspire her. She
is also a professional psychic medium. By way of her gifts she reads
and senses energy. She uses her channeled energy to create art and
write books.
DOCUMENTARIES:
My painting titled, ""The Kiss of Death (to be spoken outloud: Grace I
want you to live)" was featured in the award winning documentary
titled: The Private Life of a Masterpiece by the BBC arts documentary
series which told the stories behind great works of art; 29 episodes
of the series were broadcast on BBC Two, commencing in 2001 and ending
in 2010. It initially ran for 5 seasons from 2001 to 2006, for a total
of 22 episodes; each episode was 50 minutes long. A 7-DVD box set of
the first five series was released in 2007, which re-arranged the
documentaries into genres from art history. A further 7 episodes were
broadcast between 2006 and 2010.
The series was produced by
independent TV production company Fulmar TV, based in Cardiff. The
series producer, who also devised the concept of the programme, was
Jeremy Bugler.
The series was praised by the TV critic of The
Times, David Chater, who listed it at Number 30 in The top 50 TV shows
of the Noughties.

The Kiss (original Der Kuss) by Gustav
Klimt, is his most famous work. He began work on it in 1907 and it is
the highpoint of his so-called 'Golden Period'. It depicts a couple,
in various shades of gold and symbols, sharing a kiss against a bronze
background. It has been said that this is the most iconic painting of
all time and the one painting that has probably inspired more creative
work than any other art in history.
Gustav Klimt's paintings
fetch some of the highest prices for paintings in auctions ever in the
history of the world. In 2006, the 1907 portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer
I, was purchased for the Neue Galerie in New York by Ronald Lauder for
a reported US $135 million, surpassing Picasso's 1905 Boy With a Pipe
(sold May 5, 2004 for $104 million), as the highest reported price
ever paid for a painting.
Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 –
February 6, 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the
most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. His major
works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects.
Klimt's primary subject was the female body,[1] and his works are
marked by a frank eroticism.
