Up for purchase is A JUST WONDERFUL PASTEL Painting by George Douglas Brewerton 1827-1901. I believe the scene is somewhere along the Hudson. The artist was at West Point and did alot of drawings from the area. I am offering this 24" by 36" pastel at a great price for any dealer. The frame by itself could bring what I'm asking for the entire Framed pastel. Expertly done visually beautiful and the gorgeous Eastlake period frame thats worth the price of the entire Drawing just sets the entire work off properly Both frame and pastel are beautiful. I can only offer approx 10% off for my best offer since I'm pricing this large and in good condition drawing out very inexpensively. Please see plate #6 which shows a strange white line on the soreline just to the right of the Suns reflection on the water. Plate 6 is an extreme closeup of what I'm talking about and it is not a tear nor damage . I no not what it is but with a pastel it certainly can be very easily covered if you find it bothersome. I also notice 2 extremely small touchups or repairs in the sky. All else is in very good condition A short bio on Brewerton follows

Lived throughout the Northeast following his military father.  Studied with Robert Weir and attended West Point.  As an early sketch artist, he was in California in 1847 and 1848 during the Mexican/American War.  In 1852, Brewerton resigned from the army and became a special correspondent for the New York Times.  In 1854, he went to Kansas to report on events that subsequently led to the Civil War.  He read law in the office of a lawyer and was admitted to the Kansas Bar.  Shortly after he moved to New York and exhibited his views and paintings at the National Academy of Design. His exhibited works indicate that he traveled and painted
widely from California to the Tropics including the Adirondack, Catskill, and White
mountains and along the New England coast to Maine and the Bay of Fundy as well as
to Ireland.

Author of several books including The War in Kansas (1856), Overland with
50 Kit Carson (1853), In the Buffalo Country (1854).

Exhibitions: Brooklyn Art Assoc., 1874.

Collections: Oakland Museum; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Butler Institute of American Art; Virginia Historical Society; Chazen Museum of Art.
