Offered is an elegant fine art oil painting:  "GRAHAM CAVE"  (# 0039).  The image was created by professional artist, William Helvey.  It is an original oil painting that is unframed and created on archival, Gaterboard.   No copies have ever been made.  Image  size is approximately 24 x 18 inches.  The colors and tones of the original art may be slightly different that the one you see on the screen. They  are more vivid with darker, contoured lines and patterns.   The painting is in the artist’s collection and has had limited access to the public.  It is in excellent condition with no fading or blemishes.

The unique painting shows lush summer foliage in and around Graham Cave in Missouri.  The cave is part of Graham Cave State Park in central Missouri.  Aerial perspective is attained by having hazy, indistinct background foliage, to solid, bold, and very colorful plants and rocks in the foreground.  The unusual angle of the foreground shapes versus those in the distance makes an interesting work of art. They are contrasted against an intense green foliage.  It is different than most art of this type, especially the method of painting with loose brushwork and contrasting colors.  The emphasis of the composition is the relationship and contrast between the large foreground forms and the distant formation in the background.    The image has carefully contoured lines defining the natural forms.  The "museum quality" image emphasizes soft lights and strong shadows.

This “one-of-a-kind”  image is signed on the front and signed/dated on the back of the painting by William Helvey.  Copyright of the image remains with the artist. The unique image was created in 1993.  The artwork is suitable for matting and framing and will be shipped unmatted to the successful purchaser. This is a quality painting that would be perfect for displays, exhibits or for your own personal art collection.

After the eBay listing is over for this and other artworks, most images are offered in other sales venues, including exhibits, private sales, etc.   If you are interested in an image, you might want to go ahead and add it to your collection.  It may or may not be available in the future.

Art Collection Tips

•Here a few tips to remember when collecting art, whether you are a beginner or an experienced art or photography collector!

•Buy art because you like it and because it moves you, and because you will enjoy your purchase over time.

•Visit art galleries and on-line galleries as often as you can. You will begin to see the type of art that you are interested in and the price range you can afford.

•Get on gallery mailing lists, e-newsletters, announcements, and exhibition schedules so you will know what is going on in the art world.

•Visit and join your local art museums and non-profit art centers. Curators sometimes give lectures on collecting art and fine art photography.

•Attend art and photography exhibitions on-line and in galleries and museums whenever possible.

•If you know art collectors, talk to them and find out what they know and what they've learned about collecting art.

•Read books on art history and fine art photography. The more you know about your subject the more you will appreciate artists and their work.

•Buy art for the long haul. It can be a great investment. Art may or may not increase in value. Buy it because you specifically enjoy it.

•Read reviews by local and national art critics, keeping in mind that reviews usually just reflect one person’s opinion.
