Be wary of ebay sellers offering this service as many simply use a hot air gun or "Paint Stripper" to heat the gpu's.  This will kill your motherboard.  Ask them what tools do they use and check thier feedback.  To do a successful reflow requires exact temperatures and high end tools.

I have been getting asked about the "exchange" boards being sold on ebay.  What is the difference?  Well, they are selling non-working boards they have aquired and fixed on these exchanges. More than likely it was the video.  However I would keep in mind that there could have been other issues with the boards they were sent and might not have addressed in thier testing.  Water damage and overheating are common.  I'm hearing and seeing this all the time now that the new board the customer received had issues from the start or that something else didn't work on it or that it stopped working.  Don't get someone else's problem board.  I am repairing your board that you have had/owned since the start.  I have replacement boards I buy and stock for using as "core" boards when a customer sends me a board that can't be fixed.  I do not sell these boards out right!  I use these for my customers.  Sure I could buy and fix boards and sell outright on ebay but don't.

So, your worried you might not be able to remove the motherboard?  No problem, see my other listing for $100 which covers the extra cost to send the entire laptop.  The extra $$ covers the labor to take it apart and put it back together.  When sending in the motherboard, please leave the fan and cpu on the board so I can install the shim and paste when i'm done.  Please remember this listing is for sending in the motherboard only and not the whole unit.

A little about me:  I have been building and repairing computers and laptops since 1989.  I have seen alot of customers bring in thier laptops after taking it to a computer shop only to be told it needs a new motherboard.  After finding out what was wrong with them, I researched and found out how to fix them.  Well, that was over 4 years ago and have been fixing them ever since.  The problem comes from the manufacturers using non-leaded solder on the gpu's.  After many cycles of heating and cooling cracks in the solder joint develop and short the unit.  This causes the unit not to boot. 

I am trying to offer a complete, easy and affordable solution for my customers as I know everyone is trying to stretch thier dollar these days.  

Please check to make sure you laptop is not still under warranty.  If it is, get on the phone with manufacturer of your unit and have them make it right!

So, what does this service include?  I will repair the motherboard / video problem, put kapton tape around the gpu top, and put copper shims on the GPU Video Chip and Artic MX-2 thermal paste (better than Arctic Silver 5) on the cpu.  This will "help" make sure that this problem doesn't come up again. 

I will warranty the fixed laptop for 30 days.  Any problems, simply send it back to me.  However, if the laptop should fail again after the 30 days please contact me and let me know.  Again I work with my customers before, during and after the sale.
