The TS-808 is the holy grail of Tube Screamers.  Bring your TS-9 to a new level of warmth and Texas blues grit with this easy mod. 

A TS-808 Reissue costs $179.99 while a TS-9 costs $99.99 bucks!  That's an $80.00 difference!  This mod will bring your $99.99 dollar TS-9 up to the same specs and tone of the $179.99 TS-808.  So as you can see this mod will more than pay for itself! 

Parts included are:

1) IC Chip Socket - so that you can easily swap chips to find which gives the tone you like best.                      

2) JRC4558D  and RC4558P Chips - The JRC4558D is what is used in the TS-808 Reissue and is what most people talk about when they discuss vintage Tube Screamers.  However, the RC4558P was used in about half of the vintage TS-808's.  I personally like the grit of the RC4558P.

3) 2 high quality Metal Film Resistors - The old TS-808's used carbon composition resistors instead of metal film.  There is no difference in tone between the two different types, however the carbon comp resistors are known to have extra noise.  That being said I do stock the carbon comp resistors.  So if you would like the original carbon comp instead of the metal film, e-mail me after the sale and I'll be happy to send those instead.

4) Ultra Bright Blue LED - This mod replaces the old dim red LED with an ultra bright blue LED.

5) Solder and De-soldering Braid - Included is 60/40 rosin core solder which is just what you need for this type of work and also de-soldering braid.

This is a simple mod to do and comes with very detailed and easy to follow instructions.  An inexperienced person should be able to do this mod in less than an hour.  An experienced person can do it in a few minutes.    Included will be instructions on how to solder and de-solder so don't let soldering experience be an issue!  Instructions will be e-mailed after the sale.  This mod is also available with True Bypass switching if you would prefer.  Check out our store to for that mod and all of our other great mods.
