Suitable for equipment which can play WAV files like all PC's with an audiophile soundcard. For music centres like the Naim Uniti range, just transfer the files to a USB stick flash drive then plug in and play.

This is not a DVD-A, it is a PCM WAV file. Similar quality to SACD, DVD-A, Studio Quality downloads from Linn etc.

Just send me your LP and I will transcribe it for you and return it with a DVD-R with the PCM WAV files accessable on any PC with a suitable soundcard.

24bit 192kHz (or your choice of 96kHz) transcription service. I do not use any noise reduction as this can spoil the intensity of the performance so there may be a little residual vinyl roar and the occasional static tick. However, as this is a PCM WAV file you can edit it yourself if you have the required software.

Recorded at 32bit resolution 192kHz sampling rate and converted to 24bit 192kHz PCM WAV files of side 1 and side 2 and supplied on a DVD-R due to the large file size. Just access the files from your computers DVD drive.

The record is cleaned on a Moth MKII wet/vacuum record cleaning machine until ALL debris have disappeared and zapped with an anti-static gun.

The vinyl record is transcribed through a Garrard 401 turntable on a 30mm treble layered Slatedeck type plinth with anti-vibration feet and spikes on a Sound Organisation wall mounted support, Ringmat 330 MKII, Evolution Parallel Tracking Air Bearing tonearm, Shure V15VxMR cartridge, Mullard ECC82/83 valve phono preamplifier, Chord Chameleon Silver Plus interconnects, Russ Andrews mains cables, M-Audio Audiophile 192 high quality 113db soundcard, Cool Edit Pro sound editor software. All for a neutral, uncoloured sound.

Automatic tick and hiss reduction is so, so time consuming (and will degrade the original sound) that it would probably be too costly to offer this service. Automatic noise reduction, even 0.1%, degrades the music. There is a utility on the software programme to save as a WAV file all the ticks etc. which have been automatically removed. Even with 0.1% noise reduction you can still hear some of the music which has been taken out of the recording with all the ticks, hiss etc. Therefore automatic noise reduction degrades the music although it may take out a lot of the unwanted noise. This is why some historic recordings available commercially sound so poor. I am not impressed with the CEDAR system of noise reduction. My system of manually noise reducing each individual tick is by far the best system I have found so far. Unfortunately this takes so much time I would have to charge a fortune for this service.

Some modern CDs have been so noise reduced and poorly remastered and do not sound as good as an original vinyl first pressing.

True lossless transcription. No lossy compression.

Do not be fooled by the quality of the CD recordings from USB type turntables (Eon, Teac etc) as they have inferior stylus, cartridge, tonearm, turntable, components, wiring and cabling. My replacement stylus alone costs 3 times as much as one of these CD copying turntables.

".....CD-R copies of vinyl often sound better than the remasters put out by the record companies themselves. I noticed this a while back and duly transcribed many of my LPs onto 70p CD blanks instead of paying £11.99.....with superb sound quality. There are various reasons. A first pressing of a classic, analogue LP is a frighteningly high resolution music carrier.....The upshot of this is that a decent deck playing an original pressing (taken from the original master tape) is second only to having the original master tape..... The innate warmth of an original analogue source complements digital’s coldness....." Hi-Fi World magazine.

".....Audiophiles are not really interested in a High Definition video accompaniment to their music.....therefore 2.0 channels is adequate....well mastered 24/96 stereo is more than good enough for most listeners - those who retain DVD-Audio capability can use 24/192 [or use 24/192 WAV files]....." Hi-Fi World magazine.

Only high quality DVD-R are used. I have a computer utility to ascertain which discs are the best for recording on.

This disc will sound superb played on a PC through high end hi-fi equipment.

I do not offer 5.1 surround sound as audiophiles prefer 192kHz stereo. Surround sound is only 96kHz.

Supplied in a plain white CD envelope to reduce shipping costs.

No discounts for transcribing more than one LP.

If you want FLAC there is free software out there that can convert WAV to FLAC if you want to do it yourself.
