Vintage D'Allaird's Coast to Coast Nightgown in Ivory Satin & Lace
When I first picked this up I was completely fooled, I thought for sure is was a vintage 30s bias cut nightgown. After quite a bit of research and looking closly at the interior construction, I'm dating this as 70s instead.
- Luscious, heavy, ivory, liquid satin - Glamourous bias cut design - Gathered cups for curve enhancing shaping - Beautiful sheer rose patterned lace - Fabric has a look like old rayon satin but I think it is blended fabric and may have some poly in it; has serged seams so I cannot do a burn test. - I could definitely see a modern Gal wearing this out as a dress.
Label: D'Allaird's Coast to Coast. I was surprised to find that famed British Department Store, Marks and Spencer, owned a chain of women's clothing stores in Canada called D'Allairds which operated from 1972 and was sold in 1992. This is an earlier label, so I'm dating this as 70s.
Measurements: Length 59 inches Bust 36 inches. This takes into consideration the fullness in the cups, so this would fit a 34 C/D well. Waist 32 inches Hips 36 inches
Excellent condition: Freshly washed, no holes, no problems. A beautiful 30s style gown that is sturdy enough to really wear.
