SPLENDOR OF THE EAST

This creation of fantasy was the magnificent obsession of world renowned Master Goldsmith, the late Mr. Ralph Togel, which has now been released by his estate and is being offered for sale.

This is truly a one of a kind work of gold art, titled, “ Splendor of the East”, which must be valued not only for the value of the gold and precious gemstones but also for the skill, imagination and artistry involved in creating this masterwork.

This piece cannot be construed as having an equal or belonging to a general class, since in our modern times, there is no other known work of this nature.

This handcrafted creation was a tremendous undertaking to develop and construct with over 8,000 hours involved to complete.

The “Splendor of the East” was fabricated from 103 troy ounces of solid 14 Karat gold as well as 40 grams of 18 Karat gold.

To enhance the various materials depicted, Mr. Togel used Green Gold to represent the marble, Yellow Gold for the rock of the mountain and the brickwork of the structure itself.

White Gold was used for the stone surfaces, the rails and posts and in the setting of the precious gemstones.

In the 8000 hours, Mr. Togel set 170 Diamonds, 127 Emeralds, 177 Rubies, 237 Sapphires and 117 Pearls into the castle, whilst also engaged in the many other facets of the castles construction, including a manual operated Gold drawbridge, with its own hidden Gold key. All the mechanical components required to operate the drawbridge were also constructed in Gold.

Additional information regarding the gemstones set in this piece as follows;

The gemstones have been hand set in the raised bead and hammered bezel fashion.

DIAMONDS -(170) Total weight is 17.40 carats. Clarity for all: VVS-VS, Color: F-G, Cut: Good.

EMERALDS –(127) Total weight is 5.30 carats. Clarity for Rounds and Cabochon: LI1-2

Clarity for the Baguettes: L1-2.  Colors: Fine Green, Cuts: Good.

RUBIES –(177) Total weight is 7.77 carats. Clarity for all: LI1-2, Color: Fine Red, Cuts: Good

SAPPHIRES –(237) Total weight is 17.85 carats, Clarity for all: LI1-2, Color: Blue, Cuts: Good

PEARLS –(117) The pearls are cultured well rounded and of “AAA” quality. They present a silver body color, with slight rose and green overtones, of good orient and luster.

This fortress of Gold and Gems covers an area of 20 inches long (50 cm), by 11 ½ inches wide (29 cm) and reaches a height of 6 ½ inches (17 cm).

There is also a secret hidden Gold tomb within the walls of the castle.

The “Splendor of the East” is accompanied by a beautiful leather bound book of history depicting the various phases of construction, with copies of the original sketches outlining the design by the Master Goldsmith and including a biography of the late Mr. Togel.

To authenticate the piece, an intricately detailed Certificate of Appraisal, will accompany this masterwork, dated January 21, 1999.

The 1999 appraised value for the castle was set at $ 2,500,000.00.

The January 1999 troy ounce value of Gold was set at $ 288.00 per ounce.

Page 1 of the 8 page appraisal is shown in the photos attached. The appraisal is very detailed listing all gem quality and weight. Please note, one pearl is missing, all else complete and no damage.

The investment value of the Gold itself has increased substantially since the last appraisal (over 500% increase in gold value since 1999); however this piece must not be valued only for the precious metals and gemstones but also for the uniqueness of the entire objet d’art.

For transport, a CUSTOM MADE METAL SECURITY BOX, with handle, has been designed specifically for this piece.

The Castle is currently being stored in a secured financial institution in Toronto, Canada.
